i am not really trying to refer to them in a negative manner, cause they are rather huge resource for miata people of all body styles along with clubroadster.net those are the two main sources i browse/post on for miata stuff normally. which don't expect to see me posting unless i know i cant normally provide valid proof of w.e i say, so basically not gonna be making up bs to make it up to fit in.

Trying to stay on topic here.

Simply ignore any motor stuff for STR. That's not going to give you the largest gains anyway.

Firstly, invest in yourself. Take as many schools/get as much seat time as you can. This will have the biggest dollar to benefit ratio. If you are new to this sport, you WILL get your ass kicked, no matter what class you are in. Spending tons of money on parts to just continue to get your ass kicked sucks. Get some experience under your belt.

Upgrade the suspension (springs, shocks, sways) and your wheel/tire package (as wide as you can fit, and is legal, with only a fender roll). You can even swap out for lighter seats (25lbs with brackets, min, irrc). As always, the SCCA rule book is your friend.

Doing all of the above will give you a pretty quick Miata that is more capable with the stock motor, and none of those parts will be tossed when you go V8.

I dinno if you're hosed just yet. I've seen some odd things happen. A friend of mine actually ran STR in a bone stock NB w/open diff- stock everything aside from wheels and Kumho ASX's, and he did amazingly well. So well in fact, he said screw CS and is gonna run STR.

Then to be quite frank, i wouldn't even worry about being competitive right now, because you won't be.

wheels and tires should be on before the next event hopefully,,,this event i got my ass beyond handed to me by a HART racing s2k(a honda backed car i believe thats what it was i know it was a hart racing but unsure of what it said hart meant, but one of my friends said it was a honda backed car), which it was a fully prep'd str car. i am far from a fully prepped str car,i am only on coilovers i need to get off my cheap ass off brand tires ASAP!(they are kelly somethings)along with the cheap brake pads and ****. so i need to do a lot really, which i know this but doing what i can with what i have. find : chase monhollen street touring rwd # 17 http://nworscca.com/attachments/resu...e2_results.htm
