So I inhereted this 1966 ford galaxie convertible and I am trying to figure out what to do with this beast. It has a crappy 352 that needs some love. Suspension is original. Wheels are really crappy unilug 80s wheels that I think are a little dangerous. All drums,

I would say it depends on what the sentimental value is to you. Personally, I would get it running, maybe address the brakes (at least fix them if not up grade to front disc) and get some decent wheels. Usually, the "go-to" wheels are Torq-Thrust II's.
Plus, Galaxie convertibles are kewl.
It runs OK but it has a nasty exhaust leak from a broken stud on the head. I have had it for a year and just driven as is but am now starting to think about what to do with it
A complete and running '66 Galaxy vert should be worth a few bucks to someone. Are you sure its a 352? IIRC a 390 would be more likely.

But me? 1966 NASCARish, just without a roof...
Slide a throttle body on top of the intake and a simple electronic ignition and cruise.....
But that would be me...
Drop it, larger wheels, better brakes, and cruise it.
That's pretty much what I was thinking. I don't really like convertibles but that wasn't my choice. Wife says I can't sell it since it was her dads, fyi he is still around just moved on to a scout, then a midget

'49-'51 Mercury.
My vote is for Thunderbolt rep, but I think that was one generation of Galaxie earlier.

that car is just a set of torq-thrusts away from greatness. put a tune-up on the 352 and call it good.
Needs some Cragar Eliminator 500's, like these on my '63 Mercury--

I had one of those with a 289. Puked trans parts all over the street during rush hour. A real PITA to push. Oh and the wipers took a dump while driving home from Pittsburgh in a snow storm.
I'd have another one in a N.Y. second.
