So I finally got some shielding gas for my old mig so looking for some non flux wire.  What’s everyone’s recommended choice ?  Just doing some mild steal.

Lincoln wire runs nice and clean where the harbor freight wire gives a little spatter probably in part to some slight impurities.  However, for the price difference i am willing to live with it.  I have not used any wire but lincoln and Hf.

Lincoln 0.032" for everything. I used to run 0.025 for tin but ajusted my welding style so I get away with the thicker wire.

Don't let wire get old as it builds a layer of corrosion. The big spools are a better deal but not if you dont weld a lot.

Quoted for truth.  Old welding wire gets filthy and it's no fun grinding down crap welds and troubleshooting.

Why do you insist on non flux?

ive never done it but I’ve often heard it said that flux-core will run just fine (even better?) in a gas setup machine.

I'm not sure about flux core that's meant for use without shielding gas, but they do make dual shield wire that's flux cored and meant to be run with gas (and is supposedly pretty nice to work with).
