That's what I'm doing with mine.
The attic of my garage is full of empty stereo component boxes (keep them in case you sell something). I tossed a lot of car parts (50 years worth) when I moved a few years ago but still have a lot in a ring around the walls of my double garage.
I have car magazines back through the 1950s (remember Sports Cars Illustrated and such?) I tossed or gave away anything more recent than the early 1970s as I had no interest in that lacklustre period.
Cleaning out my mother in laws storage shed finally made me anti clutter. I was half way there before that but seeing stuff that looked a lot like my boxes of stuff brought it home.
For the Datsun I've whittled it down to one set of panels (doors, fenders hood) a spare motor (it's a race car) starter, alternator, water pump, gaskets and some brake parts.
For the F500 I've got 4 engines (snowmobile engines are small) in two tubs plus a spare set wheels. Note the Rotax 494 engines are no longer made and that's the only reason I have them.
As for books; if I don't reference them at least once every year away the go. The only exceptions being the autographed ones (I only have 4 of those).
Amongst the normal attic stuff, there lives one old GTI tire with a hole in the sidewall that the trash guys won't pick up, and I cannot seem to otherwise figure out how to legally get rid of.
We recently found a BBQ grille in our attic that we don't remember buying. So we put it at the curb, and it went away.

Take to Wally World or tire store and pay $2 to recycle. Wally has pulled tires off rims and charged me to recycle.
I have two attics--one above the house and one above the garage. Both contain more crap than I would care to think about. The most interesting thing that is yet to go into the attic is a working trebuchet that my son and a couple of his cohorts built as part of a high school project his senior (this) year. Their trebuchet won the distance throwing contest. I figure you never really know when you might need a siege engine, so I don't want to tear it apart, but neither do I want it taking up space in the garage. It's currently in three manageable pieces--two pyramidal supports and an 8' throwing arm.

I will give that a try!
Tons of old dealer and automobile manufacture marketing materials. printing plates from early datsun newspaper ads, toyota cigarette cars, 2000Gt advertisements and wallclocks.

So far 9 plastic tubs of VHS Tapes , 20 yards of detritus. 25 boxes of books. A suit of armor. 5 TV's 2 microwaves 4 computers. My recycle center tells me ( after giving them $70 ). That I'm at my limit for the year and have to keep 1 TV and 4 computers.
Mouse traps and insulation. If I get to the point I need to put stuff in the attic, I determine that I have too much stuff.
If I need to buy a shed or storage unit, I have too much stuff.
I honestly don't like how much stuff I've accumulated even since I bought my house 4 years ago.

If you want to get real depressed, check out the classified ads in the old R&T mags.

For 38 years I've tossed stuff up there that I felt have too much value to toss out.
I took two working microwaves and 4 small portable TV's to the recycle center. Because that's all they would take. ( even after forking over $70.00 ) the 4 computers, and other stuff I need to wait for a year to go by.
Notice the perfect condition Coleman lantern? Set of horseshoes? Tile saw? 6 bags of read once paperbacks. Tubs filled with good dishes? Christmas ornaments? Boxes of Champagne Flutes/wine glasses? Some of that stuff hasn't been used in 35+ years. But while I had the dumpster it's going away.
We live in an A-Frame, so thankfully we don't even have an attic. It's SERIOUSLY helped with clutter minimalization.
I find my self in the middle of a consolidation/moving car parts project. The new location is 15x20, is more likely to fasciate selling/off loading stuff and the therapy of touching things for the first time in years beats having a gym membership.
I might have the largest collection of 13" rims in the southern California region. These will likely be offloaded first. Who needs a collection of 4x100 rims that fit under the fenders of 68-75 BMW's?
Exactly, my point. But they still make 14" go fast tires, those....

A Suit of Armor? Really? Are you getting rid of that?
I always wanted one and have space in my attic for it...
