Let me open by saying that I would understand if I get the ban hammer for this. The car is not actively for sale, and it doesn't fit into the $2011 forum. This isn't a for sale ad. I'll place one in the classified section when the time comes. This is where the Miata experts are, so I'm looking for advice.

I need some help figuring out the value of this car.

It's a black 1996 Miata with a hard top and only 52k miles, that I've owned for the past eleven years. I was completely stock until very recently. I had another 96 Miata track car that I sold, I wanted another, so I modified this one. The job was completed, however I have not done a single track day with it. Zero. About 700 miles since it's been modified.

The body is just about perfect. Never any accident damage or paint work. It hasn't even been in the rain in the 11 years that I've owned it. It just passed emissions testing.

Here are the details:

Engine and transmission are completely stock. Mobil 1 in the engine as long as I've owned it, Red Line in the transmission and rear diff.

Spec Miata stainless exhaust (Bosal).

Koni adjustable shocks, Flyin Miata springs, and adjustable front sway bar, Jackson Racing adjustable rear bar.

Braided steel brake lines, EBC Yellow pads, synthetic fluid.

Depowered steering rack, but I still have the pump for it. Cruise Control removed, but I still have it. A/C is still in place and blows ice cold.

Three sets of wheels and tires:

Original stock wheels (perfect) with Yokohama all seasons that I put on when the car is garaged for the winter.

Two sets of Konig Rewinds. One set has Dunlops on it that have less than 1000 miles. The other set had R compound Yokohamas that were on my old track Miata. I used them for five track days.

Hard Dog bolt in roll cage with BSCI high density and dual density padding (the really good stuff, $1 per inch).

Perfect leather seats have been removed (and would be included). Driver's seat is a Cobra FIA spec seat, mounted on custom made rails that mount directly to the floor. Rear bumps were removed but saved. It is fitted for a tall driver (I'm 6'1", 220).

Flyin Miata Frame Rail Reinforcement kit.

Gauges were added for water temperature and oil pressure, as well as a switched LED warning light for low oil pressure. They are in a DIN panel that mounts in place of the little cubby hole near the original radio, which is still in place. Nothing was hacked in and could all be removed without a trace.

The tan top has no tears and a perfect window and rain rail, but the complete assembly has been removed and stored.

Almost everything on this car is reversible, other than the holes drilled for the roll bar, seat and frame rail reinforcements. The car is streetable and registered. No expense was spared and everything was done right. I just don't know how to assign a proper value to it. Obviously, I'd like to get as much as possible for it, but I also don't want to waste a lot of time by pricing it too high either.

I think it would be easy to determine the value before the roll cage and seat, but this is where I'm at. It's like a new NA Miata, prepped for track days, with some spares.

despite this being one of, if not the best miata site, you have to remember that we buy stuff because it's junk or has a serious problem. you'd probably get more responses if you said, "how much is my 200k mile '91 with no top or interior worth?".

Ironically all the parts that make it interesting to people like us probably are detrimental to its resale value to the general public.

I've seen Miatas this clean offered out here for about $5k-$6k, I'd reckon I'd pay about $6k-$7k (if it's got the Torsen LSD) for a car like this, but that's because it'd save me a fortune building something similar.

The sad truth is that it'd probably be worth more if you returned it back to stock...

PS: Let me know if you're serious about selling it, that thing would make me sell the Talon in a flash.

$2011.

I'll buy a plane ticket and pick it up this weekend.

$7K+ for the right buyer? Ratty track day miatas seem to go for $4K-$5K and this one is much nicer.

FWIW, I paid $5800 for the stock version of this early this summer. Clean '95 black+tan leather with torsen and 46K miles. The owner had a LOT of interest in the car at that price. I suspect I could've gotten the same deal for $4K if I'd been willing to go half the summer without a Miata, but I wasn't and I had a big check from insurance for the car they totaled.

I'd have jumped on this one instantly at $7K and thought about it a bit at $8K, since I figure I'll have about that into mine before it's good for a track day (and that's using a bunch of parts leftover from the wrecked '90).

I know someone local that might be interested in this, sent them your link. You did all the hard stuff, I'm almost sorry I'm not looking to replace my 95.

Miata.net has a pricing sub-forum for this type of question.
