Most - $13k for a '98 Subaru OBS in 2001. Only other car in the 5-digits was my 98 BMW 540i Sport, that I gave $10k for in 2005. Made $3k on the sale of that one, so it technically could be my cheapest at -$3k.
Least expensive = free, Last year I bought a running 1988 samurai for $120.00. A few month later I bought a 1992 Blazer for $170.00.
Most expensive personal car was my wife's 2001 Boxster S in 2005 for $22,000.00. Or my 1995 M3 with 38K miles in 2000 for $21,500.
When I had the car lot we bought a 1998 NSX for $42,000 and a Diesel H1 Hummer for like $50,000.00. Those are the most expensive I can remember.
I remember buying my 1987 Civic "Type-R" for like $110.00 in 2002.
Aside from the free Mustang I just got, my cheapest car was a 1981 Ford Courier for $250 (bought in 2000) or a 1983 Trabant 601 (bought in 2013). Both were in extremely good condition for their price.
Most expensive car I've bought was my 1966 Impala for $10,000. This was supposed to be my "let me buy this, and I wont bug you for another car for YEARS" solution for my automotive ADD with Mrs. Hungary. It didn't work.
Odd tidbit: I've never owned a car with more than 155hp. The Mustang doesn't count as it's going to my brother once it's completely squared away.
I've had a few free cars. The cheapest I ever paid cash for was $100 for an '81 Prelude.
I don't honestly remember exactly how much I paid, but the most expensive was around $41k for my '99 Viper GTS.
Least money with 4 wheels was $250 for a 1989 Chevy C1500 scottsdale with the 5.7 and a 5-speed. Surprisingly quick and efficient truck.
Most was $2250 for my 1991 318is, which was probably 7 years ago now when a beautiful one still wasn't worth more than $3500.
Yeah, I'm cheap. Both of my bikes cost me more than any car I've bought, but I guess that's what happens when you like KTMs...
I bought two 1973/4 Toyota Corollas for $100 around 1978. Both ran and served as winter beaters for several years. Most I've ever paid was $17K for the MINI CooperS I'm driving now.I've only ever purchased two brand new cars, a 1982 Mazda GLC Sport and my wife's current DD Scion xB. I may set a new high dollar mark later this year if the new Miata turns my crank enough.
Least: $150 for my first car in 1988 - a '71 Mercury Comet
Most: $20,900 (plus tags, etc and 5 yr loan interest) for my 2003 TDI wagon (new). I'm fairly certain my next car purchase will raise this by a substantial amount.
Best deal: $800 for my '73 1800ES that ran great and drove well, but has major rust. If I knew then what I know now about driving classic cars around here, I would have just kept driving it instead of cannibalizing parts for the ex's ES and then taking it apart.
A guy gave me $50 to "get rid of" a '67 Dart Convertible once. I spent about 2 hours tinkering with it in his yard, got it running and drove it home. A few parts and some elbow grease turned it into my daily driver for a year or so.
I've also had a few freebies but the least I've actually ever paid for a car was $5. '63 VW Bug with a rod knock. John Muir and I rebuilt the motor and I ended up driving that one around for a while too.
Mama's wagon cost more than my first house, but I don't like to think about that.

The least is free.99. Over the years, I've been given a '90 900S, '85 900SPG, '88 MR2, '78 99, '84 900T, and '73 Sonett III. If you can manage to become 'that guy' in a given area for a certain type of strange old car, you can end up with a lot of them. They don't always come along at the most opportune times and typically they're broken in many ways, but if you have a truck, trailer, and friends (and a wife) who enjoy silly adventures, you can get the cars and meet some very interesting people along the way.
The most was $15.8k for our '12 Fiat 500 brand new. It has been a wonderful little car so far, and just crossed over 30k miles.
Least: $100 for a '86 Mercury Capri that was intended to be a Challenge car.
Most: $9000 for my wife's Camry.

Highest, tie between a fully loaded country caddilac suburban I had back in the day and the Abarth I drive now at $23k but the 23k was a bigger number comparatively to me back then.
