These seem more often than not to be broken, and they also presented themselves as a sleek sporty car. Most modern cars, even bad ones, are still pretty darn good in terms of reliability. The exception to that rule might just be the rotary. :p
You are right there. Things that plagued earlier cars just does not happen today. Nothing is decided by chance, fuel injection and world wide emissions standards means all the engines more or less start on the same foot, and with Computer aided design, any one part can be tested to destruction before it is even prototyped in real life. Cars are simply better than they have ever been
