I'm also partial to metallic blue, particularly the shade worn by Ecurie Ecosse cars.

It's particularly important for any British car to look good under an overcast sky.

Flag Metallic Blue

indeed!

afterall, the best part of Britain is Scotland!  devil

Lieutenant Commander Ewen Montagu:  I can assure you that this is an opportunity for your son to do a great thing for England.
The Father:  My son, sir, was a Scotsman. Very proud of it.
Lieutenant Commander Ewen Montagu:  I beg your pardon?
The Father:  Never mind. We're used to that. You English always talk about England when you mean Britain.

The vanilla ice cream color that is "Old English white" is a favorite.

Almond green from an early mini is another one I am very fond of

Much as "Miata" is always the answer to "Which car should I buy?" British Racing Green is the no-brainer response to "Which color should a British vehicle wear?" Be it an E-type Jag or a Land Rover, pretty much any vehicle from across the pond looks appropriate in BRG.

Theoretically, let’s say that BRG isn’t an option for the Brit car of your choosing. What, …

If you can not decide on a color for a car I always go back to the original.

Regency Red.  That color is based on  the colors used by Royalty/Nobles

Back in the 60s/70s there was a BRG dark and a BRG light. I prefered the dark of me MGB GT.

I think any color looks good on an old Jag.

That does look good.

This spring, I'm judging at a British car show. I'll take pics, too.

It once was Aqua, now it's black. I like it in black, even if it's a German black.

The Mini is "sandy beige" with an Old English White roof, and it looks like a band-aid :) I have threatened to repaint it Almond Green.

Mazda's emerald green mica would be a good choice. This is my 99.

The British had some rather odd colours back in the 50s - my 58 MGA was originally painted Tyrolite Green  which was a sort of blue green they put on MGs, Nash Metros etc. Never di anything for me.

They also had Alamo Beige , but despite the name anyone that has owned one in that colour will admit that it is really pink!

There were a range of rather odd muddy colours offered, some that looked so bad that one wonders if the dealer just ordered one of everything, not worrying that they might have a hard time selling some of the less attractive colours.

I rebelled early and repainted one of my TR-3s (I think ot was originally powder blue, quite a decent colour) in one of the Laugh-In range inspired by the late 60s early 70s TV show - it was Chrysler Plum Crazy, a bright purple with a fair bit of metal flake in it, We used to call it Statutory Grape, but I don't know that Chrysler ever used that name.

At Sports Car Craftsmen, you'll find this: all of the factory colors for the MGB.

That's really cool.

To answer the question however, looking inside my shop says I'm partial to maroon (mgb and xj6).

So you would like the Alveston Red of my Landy?
