I've used Odyssey on a daily driver. About the only thing you have to watch for is if you've gone small to save weight, you simply don't have the power reserve if you get into a "hard to start" situation. Go with a bigger unit like the 925 and you'll never have a problem. It's a bit smaller than a stock Miata battery still. Plus you can run them upside down if you want :)

The nice thing about using an NA/NB battery is that there are a good number of AGM options out there that drop right in. Westco is a long-time standard and I've heard good things about the Autozone one.

Ill echo this.  I have a pc680 in the race beater that has never given me a hint of any troubles, get in and go.  I do disconnect or trickle when parked for extended periods of time...like now.  When I drove it for a couple weeks straight to break in the new clutch...absolutely no hiccups

Bumping this to see if anything has changed in the past few years.

Right off I've driven my 92 NA once a month or so through the winter, keep it on a trickle charger when I remember but not always.

Last batteries I've bought were were all the 8AMU1R :

RockAuto - DEKA 8AMU1R - 11/2/2023 - $137 - Dead last week call it 1.5 years

Battery Mart - MAR-8AM-U1R "Miata" - $114 - 02/19/2019  - 11/2/2023 - 4.7 years

Battery Mart - MAR-8AM-U1R "Miata" - $N/A - 11/19/2015 - 02/19/2019 - 3.25 years

So average a little over 3 years life. I've tried the re-charge with 1 good battery for this most recent one and it doesn't appears to be coming back.
