Does anyone stock POR15 is SE Mi? I've never seen it and I'd rather no pay shipping. Also do people use their metal prep stuff or just clear with acetone or laquer thinners first?

thx

Try the local body shop supply store. I know they are around.

Seems like it should be on every street corner...
I too buy it locally from a Benjamin Moore paint store that also carries auto paint supplies.

Here is another POR15 paint tip. If brushing on, do not paint from the can, pour the paint first into some other container first (like a disposable coffee cup.) The reason for this need for another container is that if you get any POR15 into the grooved lip of the can and then reseal the can, it will be resealed permanently (ask me how I know.) This not just latex house paint where you can pry the can open stronger than the paint.
Also, when transferring paint from the can to the coffee cup, do not pour the paint. This too will surely get paint into the groove. Scoop the paint out of the can using something like a disposable kitchen measuring cup (like a half cup.)

I got it at a paint supply place in Howell, but if I get more I'll just order it online. Shipping=sales tax, or close enough, anyhow.

I think NAPA sells POR15 products now.

To avoid the "POR in the groove" problem, put a layer of plastic over the top of the can before you pop the lid back on. That'll let it come apart again in the future.

And yes, always paint out of a separate container while keeping the can closed.

years ago, I was able to find POR-15 locally by looking on their website. It's not hard stuff to track down really.

I bought a jeep and want to paint the somewhat intact but crusty frame with it. How much of the rust should go, and how do you treat the inside of the frame?

As I've read, just the flakes. I think there was a write up on the HAMB about thinning and spraying it in a gun to get it inside things. Don't quote me on that last one.

What about rust bullet instead of POR15?

Having used both, I'd say it's six of one, half dozen of the other. They both seem to work really well. I got my Rust Bullet from Amazon.
