I recently ordered a new master cylinder for my car (2nd Gen RX7) and was all set to bench bleed it over the weekend. While setting up for this I discovered that there was an extra port. The old unit has 3 ports for the 3 brake lines. The new unit has the three ports (proper location and size) for the brake lines and an additional 14 mm port in the bottom. After 2-3 hours of research it appears that this port is for a brake fluid pressure switch. After another 2-3 hours of research I can't confidently decide if I order another MC I will get the one I really need, one with just 3 ports. First thought was to just plug the hole, unfortunately a M14 x 1.0 pitch bolt or plug seems to be nearly impossible to find. I do find M14 x 1.0 taps, so that leads me to believe that someone use this size and thread pitch for something. I also can't find a pressure switch that supposedly goes to this car. It is listed in the FSM in an exploded view of the MC, but no part number. I have access to four different RX7's and none of them have this switch or the port on their MC's. So any ideas on what might use something with a M14 x 1.0 thread I can use as a plug?
Do you have an Ace Hardware near by?

Can you buy an M14x1.0 die? If so, pick up a long M14x1.5 bolt that isn't threaded all the way. Cut to length (getting rid of the 1.5 threads), then use the die to add the threads you want.

This is relevant to my interests, as I have been searching for a 13 x 1.25 bolt for a Danish made Jun Air compressor. Thank you.

Tried; hardware stores, auto parts, BoltDepot, McMaster Carr, Fastenal... M14 normal fine pitch is 1.25. The 1.0 pitch is an odd size, I'm guessing it might be a popular size for plastic fittings. I tried briefly looking at any brand of pressure switches listed on car parts sites but most were SAE threads or no listing of what the thread size was. There should be a rule if something has a thread it must list what size it is. Nothing quite like turning an hour long job into three days of frustration.

This! You helped me earlier on my bolt acquisition and McMaster Carr is amazing!

Get the correct master cylinder. There are about 5 different ones.
If you only have 3 ports, it should be part # 132215 {#FB0243400C, FB0243400D
You want the non ABS, Non AAS (auto adjust suspension).

How much is that pressure switch? It's bodgy, but if you're already stuck with that MC, might be easier to get someone who's parting out a similar car to send you one to use as a plug..

THANKS!!!! As much as RockAuto is cool I just discovered they have zero customer support. I had looked at that model # but wasn't sure it would be any different. As usual GRM comes through with the correct answer, even if the answer isn't a Miata Thanks to everyone else for the other suggestions.

Thanks again to wvumtnbkr, the new MC showed up today and it is the correct one. Now hopefully it clears up my braking issue. This place has the best people ever.

This is what I thought. Just get the pressure switch and stick it in there with no wires hooked up...
