I've had four Miatas and I just sold my most recent one. I love them, but the fitting into them is a chore. To me, the only other obvious choice is an E30 BMW. Unfortunately, most of the ones I find on CL around here are pretty much used up. I was a BMWCCA member for a few years, but the only E30s in the classifieds there were usually big bucks.
I hate rust and rust repaired cars. I prefer faded peeling original paint to a fresh (or not so fresh) repaint so I can be sure of the car's true condition. At this point, I don't care if it has two or four doors. I'd even consider a solid automatic and do the five speed conversion. I've looked at E36s and E46s, but neither one really does it for me.
Surely there must be places other than GRM, eBay, CL and BMWCCA that I could be looking, right?

checkout the craigslist thread posted earlier today...there's one in orlando.
There seems to be a reasonable supply in the midatlantic, especially around NY/NJ.
R3Vlimited is another option.
Pretty much Craigslist, unless you're looking for one in track car trim, in which case it's the Bimmerforums classified.
The chassis has been popular across the various car guy demographics for a while now, so there is competition for them, but persistence pays off.
The e36 doesn't "do it" for me either. But there are an endless supply of rust-free chassis available for $1k or less right now, so that's where I've gone for track rat duties.
But you and your E30 will have my envy.
If you dont mind shipping or fly and drive...southern California. I almost bought an e30 on a whim that LSD last week. I wasnt even looking for one but I noticed they're great deals on them out here.
There's a reasonable number on CL out here, but you'll end up paying California prices. Might still be worth it for a rust free-ish example.

I see quite a few for sale around here (SF Bay Area) on Craigslist in various conditions for various prices. Rust isn't usually a problem.
