Just picked up my first tow/home depot rig ('00 Chevy 2500LT, 6.0L v8) for hauling around my teams chump car build and my autox car. The truck has the factory 7 pin, so I'm looking into what brake controller to buy. I'll probably end up using rental/borrowed trailers for this year, unless I find a smoking deal on one. So do I get electric or electric over hydraulic? And I'm torn between the Prodigy P2, or spend $20 and get the P3?
Yours truely,
newb to brake controllers
Electric is the most common, don't see too many electric over hydraulic trailers. Tekonsha is one of the more popular ones, I have the Prodigy myself:

Definitely get a proportional one, not the cheaper time based ones. Some people out there say the P2 is better than the P3, but I haven't used a P3 so I can't say. P2 does work great though.
Prodigy is awesome. I've had 2 and both work excellent. The auto-levelling feature is great for trucks where level installation is not possible.

I have the P3 and love it. I personally like the interaction with the P3 better, but you can't go wrong with either.
Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like I'll give the P3 electric a shot and see how it goes.
I grabbed mine from walmart, it works fine not fancy by any means just a +/- button to control amount of force.
