Which wheels do we like to grab on to. Simple as that.
E46 M3
Civic Si
I'll get my datsun replica running using the donor steering wheel, but eventually I'd like to replace that with a replica of the original four spoke wheel
I really enjoy the steering wheel of my dd honda insight. It's not particularly exciting looking but it is simple/clean and it's the right size! Very small. Mine has 342k so it's starting to accumulate a little too much sun damage on top. I think if i replace it i will just put on a very similar but slightly fancier S2000 wheel.
I had this wheel on my 318ti. It was very nice and played nice with the airbag computer
This is the wheel on my Landrover. It is a little odd to grab as the thickest part of the rim's diameter forces your hands inward, but it is growing on me. The radio controls need to go though

Fit Sport and Accord EXL-V6 wheels are both very good.
For that matter, any last-gen Protege wheel was pretty good.
But i really liked our old 1g mazda3 wheel:
late model focus. every focus has the same shape wheel, it just has different trim on it. basically leather or no leather. IMO, its contoured in all the right places no matter where you prefer to keep your hands on the wheel.
I like this guy...although I've never touched one.
I do agree with the e46 M3 and the GTI wheel! The GTI wheel is fantastic!
So, i think a wheel has 2 parts: The rim, and everything else. Some wheels have a good rim and everything in the middle (spokes, airbag, buttons, etc) is hideous.
I want a steering wheel to be good looking as well as feel right for me to really love it. I actually dont think the GTI wheel or this last BMW wheel are good looking at all.
Nothing fancy about it, but I love the bus sized steering wheel on my e30. It just feels right in that car.
steering wheels have come a -long- way. That said, Friend's Mother won't buy a new car because she doesn't like the thick rims that new cars have. Even her mid-eighties Grand Marquis' rim bothers her
I hate most newer steering wheels. The spokes are too tall and you can't wrap your fingers around the wheel comfortably. Or they have square corners where your thumbs sit on top of the spokes.
That said, I love me some Momo wheels. The wheel in the EVO VIII was one of my favorites for a factory wheel.
I'm partial to the clown face in the new Merc S Class.
But if I was asked to pick a favorite of the cars I've actually driven, it would be:
All those modern wheels look like over upholstered furniture to me
I will take this
ordering one of these for the falcon
Not "sporty" by modern standards, but I think this style would look very nice on my '64 Valiant:
Before noticing the Avanit wheel above, I had considered modifying one of these to make the rim thicker, possibly with wood:
I really enjoyed this one in the Swift:
But I've gotten acustomed to having a nice leather wheel with gadgets in it like this:
I thought we were to only choose between the BMW and the Civic. Actually, I really like the wheel in my Spec V.
Maybe I am weird but I have never got in a car and said to myself this steering wheel sucks or is awesome.
