My Mazda 5 needs a new rear shock and I called Napa and their house brand shocks are pretty reasonable. Does anybody know who makes them for Napa?

Had great success with eBay stagg struts on my protege5. Lowered, daily driven, beaten hard, 50k and no complaints.

$43 kybs there.
I was hoping to find the FSDs or Koni oranges individually.
In reply to flatlander937:
FSDs are only sold as a set per Koni's rules, something about chassis balance, blah blah, really just an excuse to ding you $700 for a set of shocks (although they are very nice). I agree that the oranges (or STR.T, ugh) are a great daily driver choice when available though.
Koni STR.T shocks are Koni Sports set on full soft and made in Argentina. Same lifetime warranty although with a slightly greater need for said warranty.
I got standard KYB's for my RX8 at KYB outlet. Was the best deal for a decent shock I found.
I'm not sure KYB's are any better than Monroe's. They are just OEM equivalents and aren't known to be very long living.
Now if they are something other than GR-2 or Gas-A-Just, then maybe they are "better" than OE units.
Does Bilstein make anything for the car?
In reply to Stefan (Not Bruce):
I've actually found that Gas-A-Just shocks are an awesome sleeper performance shock on the cheap when available. They're high-pressure monotubes just like Bilsteins, but a third of the price. Were an excellent fit for my Mk2 Supra.
The GR-2/Excel-G on the other hand, yeah. Typical generic aftermarket replacement, though probably better than Monroe.
I've got Koni "oranges" on the rear of my Suzuki (meant for a VW Jetta application) and find them noisy on compression. Squeaky. I've seen this complaint elsewhere. Part of this may be the mounting at the rod end of the shock that I ginned up.
I seem to have poor luck with shocks.
I have no idea why, but the rear end of my civic went higher after installing KYB Excl-G shocks. Installation was done correctly too, just odd the rear is higher than before (Had the car since brand new so I looked at earlier pictures I had to compare).
Can't complain about the ride since it is only a daily not being driven aggressively, but the rear end...
