Yesterday on the way to drug mart, literally one mile/one turn from home, we were clipping along at 40 on the snow covered road and someone pulled out in front of me and didn’t go. Like maybe 150 feet to the intersection and he pulled out in full mosey mode. I tapped the brakes but knew it was either obliterate him(and my WRX in process), eat a telephone pole, or go left around him. No oncoming traffic = 3rd choice. I very calmly pulled the wheel left, caught some of the lumpy stuff in the middle and got wiggly, dropped to 2nd and put my foot in it hard to pull out of the wiggle, went by him almost sideways where i got a very clear shot of the “oh god i should have not pulled out someone is going to die and it’s all my fault” face, and slotted back into my lane in front of him, behind the police car that was in front of me beforehand.
Now i feel like Dom.

So this WAS you.
Relevant to thread: I almost got high-centered this morning. I live on a school street, which has priority in Cleveland, but they didn't bother plowing much over the weekend due to the holiday. There was a big spot by the stop sign where they just sort of didn't plow, so there was a huge embankment. I technically blew the stop sign when I felt the car rise up and I floored it to maintain precious momentum.
The FMIC is packed with snow now :(
Just kidding. That was last year. This snow wasn't quite that much, then it got compacted by rain
On an unrelated note, I decided to go roller skating in Cumberland, MD Saturday night (I live in Altoona, PA). At one point on the way down, I used an exit/entrance ramp set to pass a pair of plow trucks so that I could resume 70 mph cruise, and at another, I had to pass a Statey that couldn't manage more than 35 mph on the 2-lane section of 220. It took me 2 hours to get there. The drive home took an hour and twenty minutes. Not because conditions were better, because there was less traffic to mess with E36 M3. Drive time from the rink in Cumberland to my house in the dry? An hour and ten minutes. And I didn't even have the hubs locked in. :D

Iowa Region had a great rallycross this past Sunday, with between 5 and 10" of snow on the field. Amazingly, we had 22 drivers, despite the high for the day being only being 9 deg. The photographer is still processing his pictures, but here's an early sample he sent me.

This storm finally passed. One week total of 93 inches. Time to dig the car out again.
Sadly I had to drive two hours north, but I found some.
Also 10k thousand trouble free miles on the new truck.
About 7 degrees out at the time.

I can confirm that this is true. And I use that line every time I tell someone I live by the tracks.
And every time they decided to park an idling train next to your house on a three or four day weekend.
At least it means the neighbors probably don't complain too much about backyard shenanigans
(note: snow related, link is not off-topic)
Well, yea it has been sitting there idling since Saturday night. But it's a quiet idle...

No snow in these parts, but we did have a couple nights below freezing. Ever wonder how alligators handle freezing temperatures?
Apparently, they are smart enough to figure out to stick their snouts out of the water just before the surface freezes, then they just wait it out until things thaw.

You don't make it 200 million years on this plant by letting a little ice get the best of you

Alligators are Lada 2107s. They didn't need to evolve any more than where they were 200 million years ago.
Major Crises Alert! WINTER STORM WARNING TONIGHT.

OH THE HORROR
There was just a trace of snow when I arrived this morning.
Today went from dry roads and not snowing when my 10:00am meeting in Plymouth started to 4” of snow on the ground at 12:30 when it ended. Michelin x-ice, AWD, and almost 6,000 lbs made the trip to DTW a snap. I was pretty impressed with the truck and the tires.

With all the milk and bread purchased in anticipation of the blizzard we're facing an omslaught of bread pudding.
I prepared for the poler vortex of 19 with a case of Irish beer from Costco and some gas for the snowblower. Turns out I needed both.
You gotta shove the snow someplaceThe In reply to Cooter :

Sounds like they were driving with cruise control on.
Got sent home at noon yesterday and, apparently, no chance of returning to work until Thursday at the earliest. Highs below zero with wind chills in the -30 range predicted for tomorrow. Going a little stir crazy at this point.
We're handling things great down here.
Tried to take a picture for today, negative temperatures froze my phone battery.
