Funny thing is, right after I posted that, I saw a purple GTO pulling out from my neighborhood as I was pulling in. Never noticed that before!
the first two items on your list of things to correct are totally GTO and to be expected considering the mileage and age. All GTO's have to have the front end rebuilt at some point; if you do it with quality items, you will never do it again. The driveshaft is probably the weak link of the car but it has to deal with 400hp/torque.
I havent heard much about catalytic converters being clogged but that is probably PO issues with cheap fuel or bad maintenance. I would also check the fuel tank filter.
