This man owned and drove the same car for 82 years.
1,070,000 that's miles not kilometers.
That's British engineering of a bygone era.
Boomer chain email spam - not much truth contained therein.
Allen Swift - different car, 170,000 miles. The picture above was obviously lifted from some sort of Concours car show gallery.

Here's another link to the real story and car. As noted before, it was only 170,000 miles (still impressive, I don't understand why people need to embellish to get attention).
Vinny Anatra over at Hoonigans purchased a 930 that was kind of scruffy but a decent price with 102k miles. After making a video with it, some kid messaged him and was like "Hey, that's my dad's old 911. I can't believe the guys he sold it to sold it that fast considering the mileage." He gets talking with the kid and it turns out the kid's father purchased it with 200k miles on it, and then put another 200k. The car actually has 402k miles on it, but the scummy car flippers he sold it to rolled the odometer back 300,000 miles.
In reply to NickD :
I dunno, I think a 402k mile car is more badass than a 102k car. Everything will have been rebuilt already, and it's a true survivor.

Supposedly the engine has not been opened up on it (and judging from the fact that none of the bolts would turn on anything, that might be true) but they did a compression test and it was pretty healthy. I just leaks oil like crazy, which they are taking care of. Vinny actually wants to take the cluster back apart, flip it ahead to the right mileage and try and take it to 500k.
My dad has a 730K mile 100 series LC. Original owner. We also have a 01 Tacoma with 533K miles. Original owner.
I have a friend who has owned his 996tt from new to close to 700k miles now. He's shooting for 1m and then send it back to Porsche for refurb.
My Subaru is getting close to 500k, I am not sure if it will make it to a million, but its certainly possible.

My Subaru made it to 188k before it was so rusty that you could remove seatbelts from the chassis by pulling on them gently, so I mercykilled it by keeping the throttle bolted to the firewall after the radiator leak got so bad that it would pour out as fast as I could pour water in. It's not like I was going to be able to replace the radiator anyway, since absolutely nothing would come apart without breaking or rounding.
Mind you, this was an '88. And the year was '98.
The sad/funny: Remember the scene in Big Daddy where the poor kid was screaming "But I can wipe my own ass!!!" as Child Services took him away from the only family he had left? That's what it was like that morning, because for the whole time I owned it, the car's top speed was resolutely 87mph, in 4th. It slowed down in 5th. But that morning, as I put the metaphorical shotgun to the back of Lenny's head, the top speed went up to 92mph. I always figured that the extra speed came from a lack of water pump power consumption, but in the back of my mind, I'm scared that cars really do have "soul" and this was the car begging not to go yet.

I mean Matt Farah received a fair amount of attention for taking a lexus to a million, a porsche to 500k should get them some views.

In a lot of ways, I agree. There's a point where if it's got that many miles and everything still checks out in good shape and healthy, then it must have been well cared for with little risk of hidden neglect.
As far as high mileage cars go, I'm trying to get the Jeep to 250k (at 249,300 now), but having only put about 320 miles on it in the last 2 years doesn't help... Needs a lot of work. The E38 is comparatively young with only 172k on it, but with the looming "I should really do those timing chain guides before they fail"
I moved to Michigan from Ontario, so my Chev Astro's odometer was in kilometers. It was well past the 400K mark when my son rear ended an SUV and it was a write off. I was so looking forward to seeing the 500,000 roll over on the odo.
We were watching a documentary about the first moon landing, so I googled the distance from earth to the moon. It was 238,000 miles, so I decided that is my target mileage for a car. Once it hits one trip to the moon it doesn't owe me anything after that.

Just crossed that threshold in my Volvo last week.
I'm hoping it can manage the trip home

My wife's Sequioa is at 247k and counting, so it's on the return trip.
My 911 is at 221k so just about to land.
And my current DD Tundra is at 167k so it's on its way.

I had almost 200k on my Skoda. 40-50k a year commuting, though I suspect you meant something else
