I know AW11s and SW20s have them in the rear, I don't know about the latest model...

but yeah the radiator can (and should) go in the front, it's just a matter of running coolant lines. A new drain point might be needed as well.

I'd probably keep the wrecked engine in case you ever want to go back. Sweet though! I love the sound of a blown subbie. I've heard porsches are even more expensive to maintain that a mercedes so good luck!

Actually, not so much. Early Porsche engines are extremely reliable and survive much track abuse. Maintenance costs are quite reasonable. Used Porsche engines out of later models are always available at reasonable prices if you shop around a bit.

That said, the project makes sense after reading the reasons stated by the builder.

benzbaron, You are correct I could have found a newer motor and I do think they are reliable. I thought about it. But cost would have never worked to get this car back on the road. A used 3 liter would have been $3000 plus a ratty car that is worth more as parts would have made rebuilding the car more expensive than buying a running car. I just did hot have the heart to part the car out.
However 9 quarts of full synthetic does seems expensive to me. And if you pay some one else to do it it will be very expensive (I want to take it to the Subaru dealer for an oil change They know me there and want to see it when done.

Sorry about the post above. I do not know how to work the quote button.

Any way, my wheels came in today. The car came with 16X6s and 16X7s. So I am taking the 16X7s and moving them to the front and putting 16X8s on the back. these are cheap reproduction wheels. I found them every cheap at $102 each! Now I just have to refinish the fronts. Which I hear is very hard to do because of the hard anodized surface on the wheel.

I read about some guy who put an older 911 engine in a karman ghia and the guy said the thing could be wrung out to 160mph regularly without worrying about damaging anything so they must be pretty reliable. The only issue is just like a mercedes you need to go to a specialist. I have only found one person who knows how to properly tune my engine in the benz.

Go to walmart and get the gallons of synthetic mobil 1. I personally use Lubromoly in the benz only because I know where to get it relatively cheap(~25$ for 5l).

Good luck!

Anyone who thinks ruining a perfectly good car for laughs is a turd. Maybe I'm out of the circuit, but I don't understand the englishmen. I guess I'd get a kick out of trashing cars if my currency was inflated against the euro and dollar. I don't even have a tv so maybe I am out of it, but I'm not impressed by some of their projects. I've watched those guys ruin 2 mercedes for laughs so maybe I need a sense of humor or is it humour.

obviously you have not watched any segments featuring a toyota hilux. the hilux destruction was the best thing i have ever seen in my life.
first people to reach the north pole by car too. they even gave away their cars to hurricane katrina victims.
but on a happier note, i totally dig a wrx transplant in this 911. saving a car and adding a another porscharu to the world is always a good thing.

Yup it is nasty. But I am not sure that it even works (has not moved in 13 years). And the parts are to expensive to just open it up. Like i said the motor will most likely have to come back out. I do not want to get bogged down cleaning things and spending money to make the car perfect. I can come come back and do it after the thing moves under its own power. Thanks.
