So, changing the oil on my new to me 97 k1500 and while taking the filter off I notice that there's something loose laying against the frame rail. Pic below
It has had an exhaust rattle sometimes that I had planned on tracking down but that's not what I thought was causing it. Im guessing it had to do with the old A/C system and no one could see it, it would be impossible unless you were really really looking for it.
Ugh... Like to say it bolted to the stud bolts on the intake manifold and held either A/C lines or something else in place. Looks too big to have been on the exhaust side.

That sounds totally likely. I can't really see anything like it on a Google search so far because no one focuses on odd hangers in their engine pics for some reason

Put that right back where you found it. Or else you will void your trucks extended warranty and the phone calls will start trying to sell you a new one.
My guess, the engine has been swapped and that was deemed as not needed.

Could be that, I don't know if it's ever been swapped. The a/c system is totally brand new though
Is it a GM version of a Marlin Spike?

Pretty sure that bolts to the PS pump and the hook positions the pressure hose. I remember in high school I put a pump on mine and there was a similar bracket I didn't reinstall because it was a pain
