After being impressed with a 2014 Hyundai Accent--a replacement for his wife's daily--user Gunchsta sought out a Hyundai hatchback when it came time for a new daily. The final answer? A 2009 Hyundai Accent SE.

These are fun cars to drive. Back around 09 I believe, I almost bought a 09 or 10 black on black base Accent hatch stick shift w/no ac (true fact) for $10,200 out the door from a local dealer. Kinda glad I didn't looking back (the no ac part)..

You are very welcome. Your project caught my attention since my then girlfriend (now wife) had a yellow Accent of similar vintage. Sure, it was an automatic, but that didn't stop me from noticing how great that little car was.

Also, it goes without saying that the Ronals are pretty sweet.

Hyundai seems to like Canada for some reason and in 07 there was a Canada only SR version

No idea; found the picture at a thrift store years ago, bought it for the frame, and just never removed the picture. Now it's above my workbench bringing me good luck, or creeping out potential garage bandits, I'm not quite sure really.

What do they sell for now? Yeah, I know they're still illegal to import. I'm just trying to budget for 2032.

I really wanted to come up with a tremendous tale about him being the #1 volume Hyundai dealer in the northland who successfully campaigned a stripped down Accent on many 'unofficial' road rallies through Minnesota, Iowa and the Dakotas. The thousands in prize money he accumulated winning these rallies allowed him to keep his dealership afloat through the great recession of 08'. Despite evading the authorities numerous times, he was caught and jailed for multiple traffic violations across state lines. Having no family to bail him out his dealership eventually succumbed to bankruptcy. Interestingly enough the window sticker in my car coincides with the rumors that my 2009 Accent SE was the last car to roll off his lot. He would be proud to see it getting so much attention.

I wanted to come up with that story, but I'm not a good liar and none of it is true.

At this time there are only 3 available within 750 km of my location. All are in Quebec.  Prices are from $2000 to $5000 Canadian.

And likely all very rusty. I can't imagine anyone is winter storing their accent

I beat mine mercilessly through 5 midwestern winters & it didn't have any rust when I sold it. I was actually surprised by that fact.

I don't think I've ever seen a rusty one, but Quebec cars, and you'll find lot's of small hatchy type cars in Quebec, rust more and faster than from anywhere else.  They have long cold winters and lot's of salt is the secret ingredient.

I've seen a couple rusty ones in Minnesota, but in my observation they somehow seem to hold up better than the economy cars from the big 3.

Rocker panels are a rare commodity here...

Question about these.

How is the back seat?

Not necessarily for adults but to put two forward facing child car seats.

Rear facing would probably need the passenger seat all the way forward.

Thanks

In reply to NoBrakesRacing :

Back seat room is pretty good, but that's also relative to how tall the driver/front passenger are. I never had a car seat in mine, but at 5'6" I think a rear-facing one would have fit behind me

I find the GTI comparison is interesting. To me I always thought that Hyundai was trying to copy the Civic EG hatch - but obviously not the suspension.

My son had a Kia Rio of the same vintage. THe interiors of the Kia and Hyundai are identical and he couldn't put a rear facing seat in without pulling the seat well forward. Turning it facing forward still required pulling the passenger seat forward a little. My son is 5'10" and 210#.
