Sheesh... this list makes me think I'm way behind on where I should be automotive-wise!

38, divorced with no kids and a girlfriend who doesn't know the first thing about cars but thankfully is wholly supportive of my interest in them.

Current:

2000 Saturn SL2 (5-speed)- super-reliable DD, stock except for a higher-flow intake, lowering springs, and upgraded dampers. More fun to drive than most would expect it to be.

1983 DeLorean DMC-12 (5-speed)- Gotten from an eBay auction I didn't win; non-running and with a trashed interior. Spend the next year and a half restoring and rebuilding it. Arguably less of a performance vehicle than the Saturn, but was a childhood dream come true and also arguably one of the main reasons the GF is so tolerant of my interest in cars.

1979 Chevy El Camino (auto, 350SBC)- Was supposed to be my $2012 Challenge car, is increasingly looking like it will be my $2014 one and not $2013. Will be sticking around after the Challenge assuming I don't blow it up for hauling/towing.

Past:

1986 Pontiac Fiero (Auto)- $2012 Challenge car; had the engine (500ci V8) & transmission from an early-70's El Dorado. Was a beast to drive as I never got it fully sorted before the Challenge.

1990(?) Chevy Beretta (5-speed) GTZ- HO Quad-4-powered, bought and fixed up as a graduation present for my little brother. Who never bothered to learn to drive stick, so my Dad drove it for a while and then gave it back to me to sell.

1988 Mazda RX-7 (5-speed) FC-3C- Another childhood love, bought with a seized engine. Replaced the engine with one from a salvage yard car while I rebuild the original and eventually swapped it back. Miss it, having a convertible was really nice here when it's warmer. Sold because I already had a 2-seat coupe & was out of driveway space.

1988 Chevy Beretta (Auto)- 4-cylinder autotragic that was the first car I could truly call 'mine'. Bought my sophomore year in college, and sold when I graduated after I'd bought the Saturn. If I'd known how inexpensively I could replace the heater core that was why I parked it, I may never have bought the Saturn...

Next:

No clue. Will somewhat be determined by how much space there is when I get a new house...

1987 Mazda 626 GT (Clean, stock example and will stay that way, more or less.)

1986 Mazda 626 GT (Clean but raggity. Needs rust repair. Is receiving drive train and suspension from a 2nd-gen MX6 V6.)

1990 Toyota Corolla Wagon (Clean with low miles, a true "old lady church car," and a gift from said old lady.)

1999 Nissan Sentra (The wife bought this new and it is my current daily driver.)

2007 Nissan Murano (CVTs are lame. Wife's DD and our family-mobile.)

James... is the MX6 just rust repair away? Or is there something else majorly wrong with it? I'm at the point now that there's really nothing mechanical on these cars that i can't do in a weekend at most, and i'd be totally down for coming out and giving you a hand. Hell, we'll get Eric involved and the three of us could build that car from scratch in a day.

2) 99 Cavalier DD

3) The good car, the wife's 02 Malibu. The only one in the fleet with shiny paint and a mere 346,000 on the clock.

The only other car I owned was a 95 Escort that died a horrible death at 290,000 mi off the Taconic parkway one night after work. I tend to wring every last bit of life out of everything.

I can't list the cars I've had. Just too many and not enough RAM in the noggin.
In fact, last time I was listing them it took quite a while. A buddy was amazed at the number of cars I'd owned. I called him the next day and told him I forgot about at least 6 that I remembered as I fell asleep. He said "Man, you've forgotten about more cars that I've owned!" That's why I tend to think of my car ownership in terms of trends. I've now shifted to a fuel efficient DD and building one fun car. The responsibilities of work, a house, a wife and three kids tend to do that.

Nowhere near the coolness or sheer volume of most you guys. I'm 30, a single dad to a 10 year old boy, full custody, single income.

My list is short, it pretty much doubled thanks to GRM.

PreGRM;
-2001 Lexus IS300 auto, given new for HS graduation/bday as a thank you for spending my childhood working the fam business. Totalled canyon carving.

-1987 Buick LeSabre auto, $500 car to get to work after totalling the IS300, sold for $500. New owner got tboned and totalled it.

-2002 Lexus IS300 auto, bought new, still own currently.

-1991 Honda CBR600 F2. Looped it being a squid doing an endo, need to straighten subframe and put some work into getting it back on the road. Haven't ridden in years, sits in my parent's garage.

POST GRM

-2007 Honda Fit manual, took over payments for my sister for a few months before moving it along. Loved that car.

-1993 Lexus LS400, auto. Bought, fixed and gave to my dad who had to retire unexpectedly and sell his assets to pay medical bills. Still in the family.

-1977 Toyota Celica GT liftback manual, my son and my project. Bought from $201x classifieds 2+ years ago, haven't started work on it yet.

-1998 Saturn SL2 auto. Bought to use as a daily beater, gets better gas than IS300 and I don't mind if it get's dinged, dented or dirty. Almost done with the build, need to smog.
