Michael must be rubbing off on me because I actually think that Neon is cool.

All I went for was a taillight, so nothing but some pliers and screwdrivers...
I made a wrong turn first into the DCX section... Or so I thought.
Nice score on the header. I usually go to Phx yards once a month when the blast furnace is off. Which yards did you get to?

Ill let you drive the acr when you get here.
Cause they ARE cool.
It's the day after the Challenge so what's there to do but wonder the junkyard.
Going through the GM section I see an engine sitting on top of a 77 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. It just looks strange like that's how it came into the yard. I get closer and realize it's not what came in that year Cadillac. It's a flathead!
The purpose for today's visit was to get Michael an ECU for the Miata. This Impala gladly donated it's ECU. What engineer decided that the ECU should be under the air box and let's put a steel bar on top just for good measure.
The hard work for the day done I decided to go to the old car section. Today was slant 6 day.
1968
77
And finally 62.
Michael asked me to get the fans out of a 05:06 Chevy truck. Only one in the yard so I head over there.
Yeah think they're gone.

Looks to be a Cadillac flathead, with the exhaust manifolds coming out of the engine above the cylinder head...with the belllhousing and manual transmission still attached, that's a rare find.
In reply to stuart in mn :
Yeah there were two problems. One I already have one and two my pickup bed is full. I might come back after my bed is empty and grab it. Interesting thing was the exhaust dumped at the rear of the the passenger side not the front.
Stampie (FS) said:Today's goal was to experiment with Nissan/Infiniti Legos.
In the very first row I saw the back of a Miata. Go to look at it and it very quickly gave up it's headlight surrounds. Now if I only knew someone that needed them.
Today's target was only a couple of rows over. This 2006 Infiniti M45.
Goal was to see if the trans output yoke could be swapped with a normal u joint yoke from a G35. This has the same trans as the 2002 Q45. Also the same engine but I notice that the intake is different. This one comes in at the front.
Here I am half way to getting the driveshaft bolts out.
All the bolts out and driveshaft out of the way. I had to take out the Y pipe and a crossmember to get room. Lucky the yard had taken out the cats so was pretty easy.
One 32mm nut on the trans yoke and I'm hoping it'll slide right off.
And disappointment. No sliding right off. Had some play so I'm thinking a snap ring inside the trans. Well that sucks but at least we know.
I started to leave but decided to take a walk around. Saw this 2003 Saab 9-3.
Manual trans even.
Turbo still there and the ecotec engine. This is one I wish I could have gotten before it went to the yard.
Someone in the Ford section got creative in making shade.
Noticed this 69 Impala last time but forgot to check it out.
Still had the original high beam T3s. Too bad Dusterdb13 told me no to T3s on Nader.
Went over to the old car section and saw this 76 Dodge Aspen. I don't give enough love to you Mopar guys.
Good old slant 6 engine.
Guess the PO wasn't committed 100% to the Mopar lifestyle.
That ended my day in the junkyard. Just that little bit sucked the lifeforce out of me. Think I might be done until the fall.
These headlight bits ended up in my possession somehow. Who do they belong to? Shadeux?
Stampie, I need a WC T5, if you happen to stumble across one somehow.
In reply to Stampie (FS) :
I would indeed. Not 100% on the shifter position, but im thinking of doing some dickery with that as well.
The wct5 from 4th gen camaro 97+ v6 is a Ford trans pattern with a gm input and output if that helps. The removable part of the bell housing is 60 degree gm on the engine side.
I believe the input shaft is swappable for the Ford input shaft as well.
Just some interesting thoughts if you need to lego a car together.
Today was 50% off day so I went to grab some things and check some things for others.
First the RX7 that had been V8 swapped.
Unfortunately it didn't have anything that was usable. The battery cables did catch my attention.
Yep they used jumper cables as battery cables.
This Saab gave up it's DIC and some emblems.
And finally I got a hood release lever off this truck.
Today's haul cost me $30.

I have an open bounty for 4 lug FC parts. Most people scrap that stuff and conver to 5 lug, I guess because they like to make a pentagram when they torque their wheels instead of a sign of the cross. Who knows. All I know is, it's super super hard to find 4 lug parts and even with an open bounty of way more than scrap value, I've only ever had one taker. It's been so long, I can't even remember, but IIRC I was offering $100/set for front hubs.
In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
Well shiznit I'll see if I can grab them next week. You need anything else from it?

I can check woody's soon, last time i was there they had a four lug fc but i didn't know you were looking for anything.
Pics from Oct 24th:
Sunbird with turbo, in really nice shape still. What a cool and terrible car.
Some sort of front suspension subframe, no idea what it was from. Looked Mopar to me. Might be cool for a hot rod
RHD Celsior (LS400) with some BC coilovers. I went again yesterday and they were gone, I should have grabbed them.
Eclipse with a 4G64. I always thought the wheels were nice looking.
V6 manual transmission Accord coupe. Cheap cheap J swap stuff! So tempted to buy all these rare bits that I have no use for.
Another very rare beast even in Canada. Doesn't exist in the states. Nissan X-trail with a manual transmission and AWD. Someone has taken the transfercase, but the transmission is there lying on the ground. Transfercase from an auto probably has a 50% chance of fitting, probably could sell this for a good profit if I found a buyer wanting to do cool AWD stuff.
And a totatlly rotten Protege. The strut towers are impressively gone, like I'm not sure how it hasn't collapsed under it's own weight.

That's my problem in the junkyard. I see stuff I have no need for but then think there's some poor SOB out there looking for that very part.
In reply to EvanB (Forum Supporter) :
Oh nice. There's a few parts I could use off it but easier to grab down here. So if you want the wheels how does that work?
With this yard, take a floor jack in and drop the car back down after taking the wheels.
Unfortunately there are only 3 and they have wheel locks on them that look like someone attempted to remove and gave up.

My plan was to hit the yard tomorrow and grab those hubs for you. I just looked online to see if there were any new Saabs and noticed that a 93 was gone. Then I thought oh that was near the RX7. Sure enough the RX7 is gone also. Sorry but now I know so I'll keep a look out for you.
I'm in need of an 98-01 Isuzu Amigo/Rodeo 4 cylinder manual transmission. From what I can find the 98-99 are T5s and preferred. Since the Thanksgiving sales are coming up I hit my favorite yard. They don't show what engine/transmission cars have so it's a go out and look.
First one manual but V6.
On the way to the second one I saw this Wrangler. I sent the picture to my Jeep friend just to make his Saturday morning sad.
Second Isuzu V6 auto
Third one 4 cylinder but auto.
Last one engine gone but from the auto sitting on the ground I'm assuming V6.
Well I struck out on my needle in the haystack. On the way out I see this Camaro with a WC T5 GM metric pattern. This'll be my backup plan.
One Miata in the yard so I went by to see if there was anything Michael could use from his deer incident. Nope all the front gone.
