My brother left his motorcycle in my parents shed for about 5 days. Today when he went to ride it home it won't start. He's never had any problems out of it before.

The only thing he did differently than I would have is he left the fuel valve open while it was sitting. My thought was that it was flooded but I'm not sure. They said you could smell gas so it seems to be getting gas. They couldn't get to the spark plugs without taking the fairing off. But, I don't see why if it had spark 5 days ago it wouldn't today.

I'm about 4 hours away so I'm trying to give advice over the phone.

Any thoughts on what to look for or try?

I have them pulling the plugs to see if they're wet. If they are they're going to turn the motor over with the plugs out to clear the engine.

Does it turn over with the starter or is it electrically dead?

The carbs have some little passageways in them as they are each only feeing 125cc, easy enough for something to clog it up. If it is getting spark, try blowing out the fuel lines and if that doesn't work, try taking off the carbs and cleaning them out

I'd be willing to bet on your original diagnosis, I bet since he forgot to close the petcock it flooded slowly over the 5 days.

He told me when I asked that he never closes it. But, it's his primary transportation so he rides it every day. This is the first time it's sat more than 24 hours.

Close the petcock, turn choke off, open throttle full open and crank. If it sputters a few times keep it open full bore. then after it revs up and stalls turn gas on and re-fire. Likley flooded or got condensation in the float bowls from this P4Gass we have now...

That was the first thing I had them try yesterday. It wouldn't start at all.

He's going to pull the drain plug on the bottom of the bowls to drain the gas today. Also, told him to clean up or replace the plugs.

He pulled the plugs and spun the engine till he didn't smell gas, cleaned the plugs, put it back together and it fired right up.
