Hey all,
Considering going all-in on a custom made bike frame. I found this website online, Framework Bicycle in Canada, that do CNC-machined bike frames out of aluminum and/or carbon-fiber.
Anyone have any experience with made-to-measure bike frames? What would you expect to pay for that? These guys start at $5,500.
Thanks,

While I know this post screams "spam", I'll bite...
$5500 CAD for a custom frame isn't out of the ordinary these days. Some are more, some a little less. I've never heard of them before although there's another brand in the US - Frameworks - building custom frames, but full suspension for DH and enduro riding/racing. A longtime friend builds custom titanium hardtail mtn and road frames. They're roughly the same price and his waiting list is well over a year. I had a custom steel mtn bike frame built some 25 years ago. It was expensive for the era, but less than similar Ti frames.
I've got experience in this area. What are your motivations for considering custom? Your satisfaction is likely to depend on your reasons for not going for a stock bike, mostly because stock bikes can be sooooooo good these days.
For example: Can't get proper fit for your size/proportions off-the-shelf? Want something unique/exclusive? Aesthetics? An interest in the frame builder as an artist or creator? Can't find some specific combination of frame specs off-the-shelf?

Agree with the above. Unless you've gotta have a one off, or are 7 feet tall and can't fit a regular bike, there just isn't much reason to buy a custom frame.
Good points, all. I guess I'm just looking for something you can't get anywhere else. And I know the bike builder through a family friend. The fact that he uses CNC-machining, which is basically where you put all the measurements into a computer and it prints out the perfectly sized elements, has got my interest!
