Not really- what you're looking for is already the "street" version, typically. The lighting kit's main advantage is that it lets you register a totally nutballs, high strung MX/woods/supermoto/whatever bike which was only intended for offroad/race use.

Ok, roger that.

I will add that start saving for fall. You can buy bikes far cheaper in the late fall, because winter is coming, and momma doesn't want that thing she hates cluttering up the car hole come snow.

You'll pay more in the spring, I promise.

Very interesting! Does this same logic apply to buying protective gear and such?

Yep. I just got a bitchin pair of Olympia waterproof, 4 season pants for well under a hundo. As far as I can tell they are 6 months old and about $250 new.

But I'm also the sucker who bought a bike in June, so don't listen to me.

Evidently this is not a bike for a beginner...

Aprilia RXV 550

And I've only been to one rally, but I'm guessing there is a reason I didn't see one there?

That thing is balls fast, very light, and very maintenance intensive. It's a v-twin borderline MX bike with like 200 mile service intervals- I believe there was a guy who rode one at Sandblast, and broke down 2 years in a row before winning on his 3rd year.

That would explain why I want it.

I'll keep shopping

I'm partial to the bigger 6XXcc thumpers for street and gravel road use, but they will feel heavy if you want to ride tighter trails.

I am in a similar situation and bought a lightly used DRZ 400 from a friend. Unfortunately, I still don't have the title yet.

Right now, my hope is more trail riding than street... and there's a KTM dealer a few miles from me here in NH and a 350XCE keeps calling my name... lighter bike for trail riding.
