I giggled like a school girl while watching that run from 120-180. I have no desire to go that fast. I just found the CBR cheaper than I've found any VFRs, and it seems the only changes needed to make it a fully competent sport tourer are bar risers and a taller windscreen. The insurance quote was cheaper, too .
The ST1300 high speed wobble has been attributed to tire choice by at least one police department (see the latest MCN for more details). They switched to another brand, sw the wobble go away but tire life decrease. Went to Michelins, and are seeing over 10,000 miles a set. For those non-motorcyclists taking a look, that's fairly impressive for a motorcycle. Especially one of the size and power of the Honda.
The ST's look like nice bikes, but they're kinda pricey. Hard to find too, seems like everyone who buys one wants to keep it.
A Blackbird?! Holy crap. One of the original cruise missiles. Some bike courier's in the UK used those. Stout bikes. Practically ride themselves. Drop some pics on us if you go that route.
The CBRs are cool, but give me my Goldwing. The '88 and up models are surprisingly quick when you want to get it on and the full fairing w/lowers makes riding in the rain no big deal. And the earlier carb'ed models are pretty reasonable. The PC800 a is pretty practical all weather ride and prices are dropping.
I've got an '81 GL that's almost ready to ride
I don't know what I'm going to get yet, I think I'll keep riding the 599 until something is unbearably cheap. I went to the local Honda dealers and they are damn near giving the VFR's away. One offered me $5000 for the 599 on trade in, which is higher than the book retail value, on an '07 VFR with 3000 miles for $7000, which is less than the book trade-in value. Or I could get a brand new '07 VFR for $8000, $2500 below MSRP...
I know, I should have taken it, but they wouldn't let me test drive it.
