Saw it on the plane last night. Really enjoyed it, although there were a few scenes (notably the ones with children) that were a bit laboured. I was like "yeah, I GET IT" they could have deleted some of the obvious lines.
Great story, no foul language - the use of the "n-word" was shocking enough. Loved the lead actor, hope we see him in more movies.

I need to see this, I have been meaning to.

I really liked it.
I'm a sucker for underdog stories about heroes, and he was played with grace and dignity. Loved the actor.
how can you post a thread like this and not tell us where to watch it for free??
nice to hear it was good, I wanted to see it too.
I saw it on a plane this week as well. Cleveland to Denver. I liked it a lot better than I was expecting to and have already recommended it to a few people. Made me realize that even though I hate baseball, I love baseball movies.
Another disgustingly historically inaccurate story pandering to "self-hating" people who love to feel guilty about being white!? CAN'T WAIT!
"Based on a true story!"

I don't hate myself, and I love underdog stories.
Why don't you pass judgement after you've seen it?
So long and thanks for all the fish.

In the unlikely event that I ever find myself giving two E36 M3s about the 4th black man to play major league baseball, I'll read a book about him.

Great, let us know how you like it!
Will do! When you, as a white American male have it beaten into you every day at school from "grade one" that you're the evil white male oppressor, please let me know how interested you are in historically inaccurate movies about baseball players, where the people who look like you are the ignorant racist villains.

Right you are - I can't relate to anything about oppression.
Shoot, and I just thought it was a movie about baseball.
OTH... also tried to watch "Great Gatsby" and gave up in disgust.
So the answer is not Miata?

Poopy:
You are acting like poop.
BTW, Branch Rickey (played by Harrison Ford) is the hero of the movie. He is the risk taker, and the one putting his neck on the line. Hard to believe about a middle aged white guy, huh?
I agree, Lesley. I enjoyed it too (started a thread on it a long time ago which has since vanished).

The tendency for just about any topic to turn into a floundering E36 M3fest is one of the reasons I don't come here as often as I once did.
Aaawwww c'mon now. I should have added more smileys. I was smiling while posting. I'm not bagging on you or floundering. I just have less than zero interest in yet another historically inaccurate "based on a true story...with lots of white people calling black people n*ggers" flick...ESPECIALLY not one that involves baseball.
Kisses.

Yup, or as the hipsters say, +1
