60 years ago today The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart was released. As a kid I was given a copy of this album and listened to it repeatedly. I've been a huge fan of Newhart ever since. I find his straight delivery and twists on everyday situations incredibly funny.
He's the master of the one sided phone conversation.

Bob Newhart is brilliantly funny.
I think it was A&E that did a biography of him a few years ago. He and Don Rickles would vacation together. They showed footage that Rickles shot on a camcorder as they walked through Italy or Greece. Don thought he had turned off the camera, but it kept rolling at his side, and you hear Bob and Don talking for about ten minutes when they didn’t know that they were being recorded.
Its one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard.
Funniest thing ever. Guy was a riot.
I would have loved to see him and Super Dave (Bob Einstein) do something together. It would be a deadpan off.
youtube has a lot of short 5-10 minute clips from old Tonight shows with Johnny Carson ,
all the greats were on with Carson ,

Still one of my favorite stand-up acts I've seen live. I guess it would have been 15 years ago now, but for a clean comic and an old man at that, he was spectacular.

Since I never saw Super Dave growing up, at least I don't remember it, I will always think of him as Marty Funkhouser.
Crappy copy but funny. Get the box.

That and MASH were the best series finales in television.
If you haven't seen his appearances on the Big Bang Theory, it was pretty good. He plays a very reluctant Jedi advisor, classic Newhart.
