I'm going to have a 7-hour layover in Miami on the 30th (I won't actually have 7 hours because I'll need to clear customs, pick up my bags, check in for my onward flight, etc...) Anyway I've never been there before. Is the airport close to anything interesting? How about good places to get Cuban grub? I'm open to ideas...

With all the construction going on around the airport, it will take you a minumum of four hours to get somewhere, eat, and get back. Even if you cleared Customs in record time, you'd be cutting it close on getting back and going through security. You'd be better off staying at the airport.

I hate that airport. But, if you have a layover for that long, you do not have enough time to go anywhere else. There are some decent restaurants in there, like La Carreta, a very Cuban place, representative of Miami. Have a bite to eat, get to where you have to go, and chill. Sanity will be retained.
