Set about 30 years after the first, Ralphie's Old Man has passed away and this is the first Christmas without him. Ralphie brings his family to his old home town to see his mom, mom asks him to make this the most special Christmas ever and Ralphie starts to realize the kind of stuff that his dad had to do in order to make Christmas happen
I am cautiously optimistic.
Too bad its on HBO Max, which I dont have. We probably watch A xmas story 10 times a year at my house lol.
I saw the trailer yesterday. I want this to be good.
I hope this is good! It's one of our family favorites, just like I'm sure it's many, many families favorites too.
One of those truly great movies that's never gets old. I can't count how many times I've seen it and so many great lines. Probably my favorite is:
"My father worked in profanity they way other artists might work in oils or clay. It was his true medium, a master."

Others Protestant.

I learned yesterday that this isn't the first time they've done a sequel, but it is probably better to pretend it is.
I am also cautiously optimistic about it, though I don't have HBO so who knows when I'll see it. That said, the fact that it is on HBO gives me hope that it won't be terrible.

My dad gave me my Red Ryder pretty much the same way, but around 1977, so I'm a big fan of the original. I've been to the house/museum twice, second time I brought my "old blue" after they told me I could have the 1st time.
I want this to be good.
I hope it's good, but it'll be compared to the original and with the popularity of the original, it'll be a hard thing to overcome.
I'll watch it, but I'll try really hard to judge it on it's own. Sure, it's much of the same cast and same storyline, but I think if people go into it as a standalone, it might do better.

Setting it 30 years after the original, which makes it still about 50 years ago, was an interesting choice. If nothing else, the cars in the trailer are awesome eye candy.
The original was partially filmed in Cleveland, OH.
Last night I caught the tail end of a local Cleveland News broadcast. They commented that none of this version was filmed in Cleveland. What came next was really odd. I don't quite remember where they said it was filmed but I remember it being Eastern Europe. Poland, Czech , or somewhere like that. I thought...really?
Here's that Cleveland new report and the answer is Hungary!
