Slag burns, yes, UV burns oddly no and Im lousy about wearing my protective gear.

Worst one for me was setting the mig down in the middle of a job then loosing my balance and falling with my palm directly on the still very hot tip.

Setting adjacent things on fire is always fun and you can not see the flames with the helmet on. Kind of cool to watch a piece of cardboard on the bench seem to magically disappear before your eyes.

^ That I am going to definitely have to try.

On a lighter note, I welded my second seam today. Instead of "hours" to make a boogered up contaminated tig weld, it only took me minutes (and it was less boogered)

At this rate of improvement I'll be welding together roll cages in no time!

Stick welding slag through the crystal of my Rolex. That sucked. Lesson: Don't wear the Rolex when welding.

That's the second most common problem of Rolex owners. The first is leaving it in a patient.

When I have a long session of welding, I wear a leather welding coat, and if I'm under a car, safety glasses and a cap as well.

I've set a redneck wedding jacket ablaze (cheap insulated plaid shirt)and had a big blob of hot metal burn through the tongue of a Doctor Marten boot, my sock and the top of my foot. I've finished an awkward TIG weld with a smoking glove index finger. It all builds character, but can be avoided.

FYI, for the TIG folks, the guy who does the youtube channel "welding tips and tricks" sells a thing called the TIG finger. A slip-on insulator sleeve. It's one of those things you don't know you need 'til you need it. Get a couple.
