While we were at our local dairy the other day a Miata parked next to SHMBO's Beetle and created this cool optical illusion. Made me do a double-take when I first noticed it.
Also, this was the nicest stock NC Miata I've ever seen. Gorgeous color combo of white paint and brown leather interior. NCs normally don't do much for me, but this one made me drool a bit.
That top doesn't match the rest of the car IMO. The illusion is cool! Too bad the s10 didn't match up!
Could almost pass for a Chris Bangle design 
I want a miata hatch so bad I would buy it even if it looked like that.
It reminded me a bit of a Solstice

Yeah, just flatten the top a bit from that picture, bring the hatch back another 3" and it would rock. I'd take one.
If the top went all the way to the back for a shooting brake I would love it.

Mazdaspeed had one of the NB Coupes at a show I was at years ago, by the way, and it was amazing looking. I'd buy a new version of that in a heartbeat if I were considering such a car.
