With a few extra bits, I see a challenge entry. Looks like a good start to a monoposto monocoque if you ask me.

Interesting choice of engine... looks like a six cylinder flathead. My guess is the sub blew a head gasket or something and head was removed. I think if the head corroded away there would still be head bolts coming out of the block.

I'm picturing something like this:
My vote is very ambitious Cuban. An old flathead six would have been stock in one of the old yank tanks that were left in Cuba after the embargo. Most of those cars have been repowered with engines they can get parts for. This engine was pulled from an old American car, and while sitting around used to build this sub.
Might be bodies in it? Skeletons?
