I am 56 and have never drank alcohol, just enough to know I do not like the taste of it. Probably a good thing for me. But now I find myself in a spot where I pretty much have to (Cruise ship)no At dinner, water and soft drinks will be like 4 or 5 bucks, alcohol will be free. Does Mikes Hard Lemonade taste like lemonade? What could you drink that taste like a soft drink? Not one of those frozen deals......
I've tried the Hard lemonade and tea and they are awful.
How about wine ?
No one says you HAVE to drink at dinner. They don't serve water ?
Not being used to the effects of alcohol, I suggest you don't try it.
On what cruise is water $5 and alcohol is free???
I've had a few sips of the "not your fathers" drinks and they were pretty good. I don't know how strong they are but be careful. It can be easy to have too much when it tastes sweet.

This. It's ALWAYS the other way around. I've never heard of a situation where you are literally forced to drink alcohol.
Just order a virgin Cuba Libre.

Hard Lemonade is awful. Hard Root Beer is not too bad.
You've made it this far- Don't start. I can't imagine that scenario, but if it's true, just buy some bottled water at each port, and carry it back on with you.

+1 to the never heard of it being alcohol free and everything else costs. Are you positive you didn't mis-read something? Or maybe it was mis-printed?
At 56, if you're not into drinking, I'd just get the $5 soda and chalk it up to the vacation budget. Not worth risking a scenario you're not thrilled about. This is also said as someone who enjoys a glass of one thing or another most evenings, so I'm not pushing an anti-alcohol perspective.
+1 on going back and re-reading the fine print. On every cruise I've been on fountain drinks are free, but alcoholic drinks go on your room tab.

Celebrity Cruise Line out of Miami this Friday bound for the Caribbean.
water.... and bring along the flavor tea you enjoy??? For instance... Snapple sells tea flavor packs... buy a few boxes and you should be good to go.......
Margaritas, on the rocks with salt made with a respodo tequila, not a silver. I wish they tasted as good without tequila as I'd drink them all the time.
Rum punch made with white rum, but not bacardi.
Dark and stormy, dark rum and ginger beer.
Batita DE coco. It's a smooth creamy coconut concotion that I could knock back 8 of without tasting any alcohol then wonder why walking is difficult.

I'm 36, can use my fingers and a few toes to count the number of times I've had a drink in my life. I don't do the taste either. I've saved thousands or tens of them over the years versus my buddies that drink regularly. Thats a whole lot of racecar parts.
My suggestion would be don't bother now, you aren't missing anything

Tap water is free everywhere. And is at dinner, too. Bottled water SHOULD be included on an alcohol package- they are on Royal Caribbean at least.
You should also be able to get lemonade, tea, coffee, and maybe some flavored waters that you will see in the buffet area- all free. Regardless if you paid for an alcohol package. Those are standard across all cruises, as far as I know.
Tap water is fine, BTW, it's distilled from sea water, and treated to taste good.
Develope a taste for alcohol. Paired properly with your meals it really does accentuate the food. The other night we had some absolutely fantastic steaks and a 96 point Syrah, it wouldn't have been the same meal with diet Snapple or Coke.
Bring a 1 liter water bottle with you. Fill it in your cabin, bring it to meals. The water in your cabin is potable, or should be.
56, never drank, and you want to start on a boat on the ocean ... if I were you I'd just pay the $5 dollars or sip a Coors Light.
I'll 2nd the suggestion to try a "dark 'n stormy" with premium rum, if you decide to go ahead and try something.

So, you hate beer?? It's obvious something is terribly wrong with you, and there is no reason at all that any of us should trust your opinion on hard lemonade (or anything else, for that matter!!)

I'd rather not risk the "tap" water aboard ship. Usually it's fine but there have more than a few cases of waterborne "problems" than I'd care to risk. Alcohol kills bacteria, good enough for me!

The water is clean. All of the ship's water is distilled from sea water, so it's gotten nice and hot. The tap water throughout the ship is all the same- be it your cabin or the galleys.
One issue with the portable bottle of water- there will be signs telling you not to refill them at water sources (fountains, etc)- that one should not do that. So take a glass, fill with water, then fill your bottle.
It's the other passengers that are dirty.
I keep one of these with my fishing stuff to not have to carry drinks everywhere. Could throw one in your suitcase and have it with you on the cruise instead of bottles of water or something bulky.
$20ish on Amazon, $30ish at Gander Mountain.
Good vodka shouldn't have much taste. Mimosa's and screwdrivers are fine to drink on a boat. But I kind of agree with Huckleberry, if you never really drank, your first time probably shouldn't be on a boat, on the ocean, with typical cruiseline bathrooms.

White wine. I don't typically drink liquor, but when I do, Long Island iced teas are an excellent mixed drink. Just don't get near the railings after 3 or so.
