I dated the fiat, the BMW, a bunch of Harleys, a UJM or three, a bunch at 60's American compact cars, and a couple of caddys. But never would say I do.  Till I met my wife at 45 years old. Part Camry (dependable as they come) and part Alfa Romero GT (Very mild manared, but ready for adventures) I'm SO blesed!!!

ProDarwin, we didn't have children (and I don't have any with my current girlfriend and we have no plans to do so, she doesn't have any of her own either, or else we would have never started dating).........so there is literally no reason to remain friends. Especially since I don't want to.

Understandable.  If I didn't have a child when it ended I would've done the same.  Just severed all communication and moved on with my life.

Comment was more directed at Mndsm.  Once you have a child with someone, you are linked for the rest of your lives, like it or not.  Might as well make the best of it.  To be honest, I wasn't the one who facilitated open communication & friendship, she did, but I am glad she did.

Which is precisely why I refused to date anyone with children after my divorce. Just extra baggage.

And let me tell you, especially in Oklahoma where I have friends who have kids starting college this year (we graduated high school in 2000), it's nearly impossible to find a woman in her 30s without children.

If there isn't kids involved I pretty much always think that no contact is the best way.

Exes are the turds of life, doesn't matter how good the meal was, it's a turd now, flush it.

Most people I know that do stay in contact with their exes end up worse for it
