I don't care who ya are. That there's some good entertainment!
You have to be an absolute total idiot to line up your street car next to some douche you don't know and have at it. Most people have trouble going down the street in a straight line, much less know how to use the circular thing in front of them.
The Miata was driver error, the Jeep was a total A-Hole.

What the berkeley happened there? Looks like the engine seized or something.

Mad skillz driver shifted from 2nd to 1st instead of 3rd. Snap goes all the spinny parts!
Actually... the motor survived that. Old video, but the datalogger caught the motor spinning to around 15krpms i believe.
This one caused no small controversy at our local autoX club, mainly because both drivers were club members. One of them still is...
Spectator Drags = rednecks making a lap around a oval track in a "grudge match" type of format?
As for the Jeep video, I think that is called "Day of Destruction" so it is his own fault, hence why he just drives off the track. I'm not saying the other guy isn't a douche but the guy in the Jeep shoulda known what would happen.

IS that normal or is it a once in a blue moon event? I mean if there’s 20 of these things a night, how many end yup trading paint?
They used to be popular when i was a kid on Long Island. My dad and some other guys even had cars built just for it and they would get 50-60 cars every saturday. I only remember a couple crashes, one when my dad brushed the wall coming out of a turn and took the door handles off Mom's Malibu. That was back before Douchebagery was so common though so guys that had big dollar cars like Vettes and Porsches didn't have to worry about being run over by some idiot. These videos are a good example you don't see it much anymore.
Never underestimate the destructive drive of true white trash.
I went to a 'mud bog' down here once, this would have been ~'81 or so. There was a guy with a F250 4x4, maybe 2 years old, 460, big lift, big tires, obviously lots of money spent and would still have a loan on it. He took off into the mudhole and got further than anybody, but in the process the 460 just blew the hell up in a most impressive way. The guy was so happy that he crawled out the drivers' window and then danced around on the hood and roof.
I took my nephew to see a monster truck show a couple years ago. They have an event where you can run your own truck on a less difficult course timed for for prizes. Some guys had pretty serious tube framed Baja trucks The most entertaining were one who ran a used up S=10 that he sent skyward on every jump eventually snapping the chassis in half on one landing and another running a new Dodge with the sticker still in the window. He rolled it and damaged every panel.
