For some reason I can't get that distance thing to work on CL for me either. Give searchtempest.com a try. I've used it for several years and it works pretty well.
You can use google and put in something like: RX-7 site:craigslist.org

Searchtempest work well for the most part but sometimes it does miss some things.

Use the direct results, then scroll through the the cities and you won't miss anything that way.

Depending on whether you want cars from the dealer or owner section.
