Don't waste the money on the electric start, mine cranks on the first pull every time. Even this spring, first pull.
I was staying with my sister over one summer, she had a pretty good size hill and a FWD with big rear wheels... I would go with that setup, easy to turn and move up and down/along hills... worked very well...
with that being said I've never actually bought one... I've picked up cheap ones that needed the blade sharpened, carbs cleaned and maybe a spark plug... I had a B&S that had the safety lever cable stretched so it wouldn't short out... I ended up using some zip ties to keep it shorted... only prob was I had to pull the plug wire to cut the engine.

I had the non electric start version. Good mower. They have a cast iron piece that the blade attaches to that will break when you hit stuff hard. New ones cost $12 or something. I broke two before the crank bent.

Who makes Cub Cadet engines? Looks like a nice machine!
A little digging on the internet and it looks like Cub has been making their own engines since 2009.
A little eyeballing at TSC shows that the "Cub Cadet" engine is visually IDENTICAL to the "Powermore" no-name china-crap engine on the Huskee store brand next to it. TSC was out of stock on the castering-wheel model, but the next model down in the Cub Cadet lineup has the same engine.
Now, whether that means that it's actually a "Powermore", or the "Powermore" is a knockoff of the Cub Cadet engine, or if they're just visually really similar, I don't know.
I need to do some research but I do really like what I see so far out of the Cub Cadet reviews. I'll see what I can figure out about the motors.
In the meantime, I bought a pipe reducer, bigger muffler, and a new blade for my old mower. We'll see if it makes it more livable.

The blurb I read said Cub Cadet bought a Chinese manufacturer. Possibly that is who they bought. There really isn't much info out there.

Tangential topic: Who still makes good quality replacement mower engines?

When I was thinking about an engine replacement, everything I read pointed to the Harbor Freight (Honda Clone) engine for replacement. I came really close to doing it after reading a bunch of threads on bobistheoilguy. You can have issues with how your blade bolts up, but there are lots of detailed threads on how to deal with that too.
In reply to Ojala:
The last replacement I bought was a Briggs 17hp for my rider. It's also been a really good engine. That one came from Northern Tool.
My Cub Cadet has a Honda engine and it has been great in the 6 years we have owned it.
Last summer I'd left the house for my 20 mile road bike loop one evening. Near the top of the 1st hill I spied a big moving-out type pile in front of a house with something a distinctive green just visible at the back. I rode over and found a new looking 90's Lawn Boy 2-stroke mower being discarded. I threw some carpet and boxes over it and time trialed back home to grab my truck.
It required a new primer bulb which was about $5 from amazon.com - I got a carb rebuild kit but it was spotless but for a bit of still-wet 2-stroke oil. I dumped in some premix and it lit first pull and ran perfectly.
It's so infinitely better in every regard than my Craftsman, I look forward to mowing the weeds.
So I say try to find a Lawn Boy and be a 2-stroke rebel.

Well, let's go anecdotal then...you bought yours after MTD/Cub Cadet started making their own motors, right? Is there anything you DON'T like about yours?
