Good job. That looks like a fun truck. Are you going to lift it or add bigger wheels? I've seen a few with a mild lift and more off-roady tires and they look really good.
Being willing to put in the work and walk away if the deal goes South is key. I've walked out of a handful of dealerships. In 2010 I walked out of a dealership that was trying to screw me on a car he didn't even have on his lot. I started making calls and wound up calling a guy at a dealership I had never been to, but had sold me a car at another dealership 5 years earlier (I walked out and he chased me down in the parking lot and gave me the deal I was asking for). He remembered me, told me where to find the vehicle and what the actual invoice price was. I called that dealership, told them what the invoice price was, what I was willing to pay for it and had a deal 10 minutes later.
We bought our latest car at a no haggle dealership. They were up front with the rebates, incentives, actual invoice price and my price out the door. Other than the fact that they had to swap cars with another dealership two hours away to get the color we wanted it took about an hour. We spent longer waiting for the finance lady to free up than we did haggling and filing out the paperwork.
I am confused. You are mad at the guy that was below MSRP because he was not as far low as he advertised, but the guy that charged you MSRP was doing you a solid?
You could have bought the one in VA for MSRP as easy as the NY one, seems like you gave yourself a lot of headache for nothing.
Enjoy the truck, they are fun trucks. The press on headliners make a huge difference, well worth the money.

Destination fees always always confused me.
How car a car get shipped from 1/2 way around the world for $995 while the one built in the plant literally across the street from the dealership is over $1,000!!
Yes i realize they don't just drive it across the street, but you see where I'm going here.
It's just another line item on the invoice to add more to the base cost of the car, while also making the car itself seem less expensive. There is zero reason why the destination fee can't be zero and the price of the car $995 dollars more.

Well, yes and no. The one in VA for $10k under MSRP as their advertised price was attractive because of the BIG discount. It's not really the vehicle that I wanted, but my better half being a CPA looked at the $$$ and figured why not, it seemed like a "no-brainer". What was advertised as $10k off ended up being only $4k. Since it was a 2021, I figured that was basically the depreciation as soon as I drove it off the lot, so basically no discount.
The NY truck was exactly as I would spec it if I was ordering one. Just dumb luck that I found it and in a color I'm cool with.
So, in the end it didn't have anything to do with price and I'm glad it went down like it did. This truck can tow where the VA one, I would still have to tow with the dually even for small stuff.
I'll research the headliner advise.

Makes sense, you'll be glad you got the max tow package. The best headliners are Boom-mats
It's a night and day difference.
Those headliners are for the hardtop. No-go for me as this one is soft top only!

I saw the photo on my phone, the soft top blended right in.
I took the Mojave rock sliders off and put on running boards, if you get close to Baltimore and want rock sliders to clean up under the doors, you can have them. I need boards for the wife to get in :)
