I played Tetris back in the day when all we had was nintendo. I really enjoyed the version on that system. I've tried a few, but none are as enjoyable. Does anyone know if there is a version out there with the old music and graphics? I can still beat the teenagers, but it's still not the same. Figured I'd throw the question out there.
Thanks!
Might need to seek out a ROM. I'm sure you can get an NES emulator and original Tetris.
Original Tetris? Do you mean Tengen Tetris, the Russian one?

In reply to Appleseed :
Yes, the one with the russian type music when it started getting hard. On the same console as mario bros and duck hunt.
What is a ROM?

Rom- read only memory- common name for the file downloaded to use on an emulator, which is a program designed to work like the old hardware.
Next question on the price is right- which NES era Tetris? There are two. The "common" one, which was the standard NES gray cartridge and is probably the one you're looking for.then there is the much less common (and somewhat valuable) tengen version. I've never personally played one, so I do not know the difference.
My guess is you want the first one. That being said, there's a few ways to skin that cat.
You could purchase the cartridge itself and any number of Nintendo console clones out there, like this Hyperkin RetroN 5: HD Gaming Console for GBA/ Gbc/ GB/ Super NES/ Super Famicom/ Genesis/ Mega Drive/ Master System (Hyper Beach) - Super NES https://a.co/d/gpv76dm
It plays just about any cartridge era console game out there.
If you have a switch, you can get Tetris 99 for next to nothing. It has regular Tetris on it. The official Nintendo mini does not have Tetris on it, but there are a bajillion nes mini clones out there that do- I don't recommend those, they're usually bad emulator software on junk blob chips and will die quickly. There are other versions out there as well, but tracking down the hardware/software combo can be difficult. If I didn't have an original Nintendo (or 3) I'd probably go to my nearest vintage game store, tell them you want to play Tetris, and let them set you up with a cheap retro console and a used Tetris cart.
I had what I guess is called the tengen version for PC. Bought it in a store, in a box with a 5 1/4" floppy and everything

Guys, thanks so much. Yes, the larger cartridge above is what I remembered. I will start the hunt. We have a pretty good local place that should be able to look into it for me. My son is taking the x box to school with him, so it's on to me to find something for me. I should look for an x box for myself so he and I can find a race game.
Thanks again, I'll start to look!
