They were touring last month, haven't seen any dates for 2012 yet.
I bet those dates were between legs of the Testament/Anthrax tour. (Which was awesome, by the way.)
And N Sperio, if you're learning about jazz, everything that makes it so cool can be found here:

Agreed, me & SilverFleet caught that tour in November. Second time seeing Death Angel & Testament for me. 1st seeing Anthrax with Belladonna, I saw them with Bush back in 98 I think? Same show that Whitfield Crane stepped in for Keith Caputo in Life of Agony.
I caught the Anthrax/Testament/Death Angel tour while they were in Orlando. First Belladonna show, too. Awesome. I saw the We've Come for You All tour with John Bush at the helm. We have tickets to see them on the second leg of this tour, too.
Speaking of jazz, I have Wes Montgomerey playing right now. I need to get more of his CDs burned onto my iTunes so I can listen at the office.
Oh, Exivious is some good fusion if you're into that.

If you like modern jazz, this is incredible. I play it over and over again. Joshua Redman, Aaron Parks, Matt Penman and Eric Harland - James Farm

I am a big fan. We have a local JAZZ club (called CJALL AKA Classic Jazz at Lincoln Library) (www.cjall.org)
We meet once a month and someone gives a presentation on various aspects of classic jazz. We also host a free live concert every spring. As of late we have been doing video presentations. Here is a clip of from a 1.5 hour presentation I did on the history of the Boogie Woogie

Anyone into Take 6? Nothing like tight acapella jazz harmonies.

WHAT!? Is Joey Belladonna back w/Anthrax!?!?
Re: Jazz I have a tattoo of John Coltrane. So yeah.
Herbie Hancock is quite possibly my favorite musician of all time. Couldn't find the original "Tell Me a Bedtime Story" on the tubes of you, but it's one of my favorite songs evAr. Amazing drums. Everything is SO TIGHT but very thoughtfully played. Dynamics, (which is so lacking in all modern music) everyone knowing the precise moment to speak up or shut the berkeley up. It's all there.
I think that's one of my favorite things about Herbie too; at his best, you can hear him speaking in the way he phrases. A bunch of years ago I found this record "Sunlight" with him on the cover fully regailed in leisure suit, blown out afro, etc. I think I bought it just for the novelty. HOLY E36 M3 it's a good record. He uses a vocal synth - which is nothing shocking in the auto-tune era, but whatever...it's amazing because it might seem like this effort to 'go mainstream' given the disco-ey feel to some of the tunes, but really I think it was him saying "I know I can't sing for E36 M3 but I need ya'll to hear this." The would-be-hit tune from the record is called "I thought it was you" and is about thinking you've seen some fine b*tch from the past in the grocery store or whatever. Some chick you forgot all about, and this big feeling of excitement comes over you.
Blahblahblah. I like talking about music. Herbie berkeleying rules in case you ain't know.
Herbie Hancock is the man and, yes, he did more than just RockIt. This is probably one of my favorites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfsnVYVd3iI
And here's the Anthrax soap opera: http://anthrax.com/biography/ They're playing your town Feb. 2.
Speaking of Coltrane, check this out: http://thecoltranehome.org/ Up until recently, I never knew that I grew up right near his home. Sadly he passed away a few years before I was born. Next time I'm up there, I need to check it out.
I played swing era jazz as a teen. Made more money at it playing dances at the lodges for our parents than I did in the community orchestra. Basie, Dorsey, Goodman.
Love listen and watching old jazz but have a tendency to listen for the layers and get caught up in it. Can't listen to it while driving. Someone sent this link to me a while back. A B-grade japanese movie. The movie is a bit hammy like asian movies or teen movies can get but the music is good.
Swing Girls -sing, sing, sing
Oh and Herbie does rule. Seen him in concert directing his keyboard.

I post some jazz on FB from time to time Davis,Coltrane, Brubeck, Fountain...etc...
I tend to like the softer...smoother stuff.
Best vid I posted was of Miles getting pissed at Herbie during a concert and coming over and hitting a key on the piano....coolness.

I kind of hate Miles. I like a lot of his work, but his arrogance never sat right with me, and a lot of his 'free-form' stuff was truly awful IMO. 'Evil Live' was one of the worst musical purchases I've ever made, and it was back when saving up $20 for some new music was a big deal for me. I guess I never forgave him for that.
Other stuff I love: Return to Forever (Chick Corea,) Wayne Shorter, Grant Green, Oliver Nelson, George Duke/Billy Cobham band.
I'm sure there was another jazz thread where I mentioned my love for The Bad Plus - at least their first 3 records, and Groove Collective, whom I've seen a ton of times in multiple configurations - as far as 'new school' stuff goes.

Funny. I played guitar in the IRCC (south florida autocrossers will know what I'm talkin bout) jazz band for a couple years...though I was never actually enrolled there. The audience at our concerts was usually a pile of old farts expecting to hear lawrence welk or some crap. Vid reminded me of that.
i thought you meant these jazz :(

I liked Miles' cockiness--he earned it. That said, I'm with you on the freeform stuff. I literally ran out and dropped $50 on Dark Magus and Live Evil when they were reissued in the mid-90's and received 5-star reviews in Rolling Stone. Listened and was like "WTF?!"
WAY too out-there for me. I guess it makes sense to someone.

Thank goodness for digital audio . I buy all my music in hardcopy, but it's nice to give something a listen on the internet before committing to a purchase.

Its 20 minutes of garbage per 10 seconds of random accidental genius. You can tell no one is even listening to each other half the time. Don't do drugs kids. At least not those drugs.
I got into jazz via the swing dancing fad circa 98-99. Still love swing dancing.
I second Preservation Hall. I'd add Louis Prima to the mix.
Plus, Louis Armstrong should be mentioned in any list of the greats.
Somewhat related, but I've found myself listening to lots of crooners lately. I've been listening to lots of Bing Crosby and members of the Rat Pack.
Wes and Cannonball, awesome.
John Scofield, Kal Tjader, Grant Green, Robert Walter
Red Garland doing "Stormy Weather" is jazz melancholy perfection.
I got into Jazz about 10 years ago. Hard Bop, mostly. Blue note stuff. Listen to it a lot! We're lucky in Denver- we have an awesome Jazz station. KUVO. You can listen online. Saturday evening "All Blues" is awesome, and after that is "The R&B Jukebox" which isn't really jazz, but is so much fun! He often does theme nights with songs about sex or drinking or whatever. Really fun show.
My latest creation. A "documentary" on the history of Jazz Drummers. It will be presented a week from Wednesday at the Lincoln Library. Yes it is me talking and yes I did all the video editing. I think it came out ok. It is about an hour in total length with an intermission in the middle.
