Following up from the XMODS thread, a few months ago one of my coworkers brought a 1:10 scale drift RC to work and let me try it out. It didn't take long before I decided to buy a kit and build my own. It's not cheap, but much more affordable than 1:1 scale racing! I have a soft spot for the AE86, having owned two of them in the past, so that is the body that I went with. Some pictures of my car:

Here is a video of a recent session we had with our local group:

That looks like fun! The chassis is quite intricate.

I can't say that I actively participate but when we spotted the group of RC drifters at Hyperfest, it basically mesmerized a group of like 5 of us for 30 minutes plus. Just walked up to the barn and couldn't break away.

I never set up an RC car specifically for drifting...but I can link you to some awesome early RC drift videos:

Used to really be into it, bought a few different chassis for it. Had an HPI E10 Ready to Run and then bought a Sakura D3CS kit I put together with some no-name motor and servo. I also have a Tamiya XV01 kit but that's more of a rally car than drift, but I had it setup for drift. Was really fun but I found that I enjoyed building them more than actually driving them.
