Was it ARKF? ARK ETFs are very tech disruptor focused. ARKF looks to be blockchain focused mostly, so not directly crypto but related to some.

Winklevoss Twins tried it about a year ago and SEC said "Nah"

Tesla just invested $1.5B into bitcoin and plans to accept as payment in the future.

Gamestop is the next Blockbuster. Whatever games they play with the stock it will go back down to what little it's worth eventually.

If you followed any of it, you'd know that the r/wallstreetbets interest in Gamestop was never about the actual value of the company or a long term investment. It was about holding shares short term to catch all of the short sellers in a bind and skyrocket the price short term. It worked great for the early investors. It did not quite work for the late comers who bought in when the stock was priced in hundreds.

Now these guys are running a pump and dump on dogecoin and I am looking for more Miata hardtops, or more NA Miatas.

I have ridden the Dogecoin hype for the last two weekends, then sold before Monday market open. Doubled my money the first weekend and got a 50% gain on my sell yesterday. I don't hold Dogies, but have caught the buy/sell curve at the right point. They take up a lot less space than my two Boxster hardtops and three 914s and the gain is much quicker.

*I am not giving financial advice and expect that one day I will lose big on Dogecoins.

Yes. I know that it isn't about the value of the stock. It's the game. That's what makes it gambling and not investing. I can't keep from laughing when I see those posts on Reddit that keep saying "stop selling you 2#@$#'s!".

As for Dogecoins, I think I would rather invest in breeding live Shiba Inu puppies. There is more demand for them with everybody stuck at home and they are cute and will lick your face. Throw in a few blankets and a Miata hardtop will work as a nice puppybox.

Decided to start an excel sheet with stocks I'm interested in, but for budget reasons are not ones I am going to buy. I'll check in on them in 2 week increments to see how they're doing.

Today:
RDFN - 85.39
NOVN - 1.52
ATOS - 3.80
TSNP - 1.77
CHMA - 4.50

Not today, but heard about it a week or two back

DNMR - 45.17 (decent jump here, up to 55.71 as of right now)

Care to give a sentence or two why you like each of these that you're watching?

Redfin is Zillow-like, but has a better structure than Zillow.  Allows for everything in house, no external realtor or anything like that, and has better rates than Zillow.  With the pandemic starting to come to a close, I think it will be a good climber this year.

Novan is a medical company.  They're working on a treatment for a skin condition that doesn't have any other really viable treatments.  The reports for that are due the 25th of March (I think, verify that yourself if you're interested.) Following previous medical reports of theirs (and other companies as well) you can generally expect a decent climb leading up to the report's release.  Whether the report is positive or negative doesn't really matter as you don't hold till then, you drop it a week or so before then.

ATOS and CHMA I honestly can't remember what they even are right now, someone on another forum suggested them and the info sounded good enough to put them on a list where I'm not actually investing money.  Let me get back to you.

Tesoro Enterprises is a blockchain based Paypal clone.  Not really a lot going on there, potential for them to grow into a competitor with eBay giving Paypal the boot, but mostly its a pennystock that has jumped up a huge amount in a week.  Lots of investors seem to be circling it with the possibility of driving it up more.  Price is a good starting point, lots of interest from investors, not expecting a huge jump but it might surprise me.

Danimer Scientific is a semi-local place for me.  Mom saw it on the local news, they're making plastics more biogredable.  Small company (4 employees) that's local and doing something impressive.  Also, Mom recommended it so I'm tracking it.

I like Redfin because their competitor "Zillow" is a sell-out, shark jumping, pile of excrement.

I knew nothing about Danimer Scientific (NYSE - DNMR) until your post but I know the average American eats about one credit card of plastic per year due to the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch" and it's projected that we'll be eating four credit cards of plastic per year at some point in the fairly near future.  Serious problem, I'm now following DNMR; thank you.

Having owned a few early 2000s VWs, I think that they have already mastered biodegradable plastic. Five to ten years and most of the interior plastic stuff crumbled to dust.

On a serious note, when I visited Yellowstone National Park, they used compostable cornstarch based 'plastics' for the straws and cutlery. It worked just as well as the petroleum based plastic products for my meals. Good stuff.

For me, it was a 1987 RX-7...eighteen years of ownership (garaged but Southern California heat) - 287,000 super happy miles - compression moderately below spec but probably good for 15-20K more miles before becoming hard (at least for people in the know) to start.  But the constant 80's circa blue plastic dust in your hair, clothes, everything and random interior pieces constantly just falling off while you drive said it's time to go.  Sold it to a racing buddy and he auto crossed it until cash for clunkers at which point it was crushed for the credit. crying

Following this, Talon Metals.  There are two mines in the US producing nickel, Talon is the only one that is producing "green" nickel and the other mine is set to close somewhere around 2025.

Nickel is instrumental in producing batteries for Electric Vehicles.  Musk wants "green" nickel and these guys are the only ones making it.  Even if they don't strike a deal, they'll be soon be the only mine stateside that is producing nickel for batteries.  There are a couple of detractors from the stock, as noted below in the DD portion of this post, but at $0.63 it may still be worth snagging some

Short interest down to 78.46%, quite a bit down from 260% morningstar reports before.  Shorts likely have been covering this whole time as prices have dropped. The ride is likely over.

S3 short interest data also reflects this. Going from 140% high down to 48% today.

The last line of that article is the money...  “There are some really smart people on [WallStreetBets], but for the most part, all this is just poor habitual gambling addicts versus rich habitual gambling addicts,” Hong said. “No one is a good guy here.”

92 million people bought GME in Jan?  That seems like a pretty far fetched number unless that is including indirectly through things like retirement accounts or other managed funds.

" Using a representative sample size of 1,089 Americans, the survey found that GameStop wasn’t actually the most popular stock from a “how many people bought it” standpoint. While 9% of Americans bought at least one share of GameStop, according to the poll, 10% bought a share of AMC Entertainment (AMC). Other popular stocks of the Reddit frenzy included BlackBerry (BB) at 6%, Nokia (NOK) at 5%, Castor Maritime (CTRM) at 4%, and about a dozen other “meme stocks.” "

So they surveyed a thousand people about what stocks they bought and 28% said they bought a (cringe) so-called "meme stock".

Small and mid-caps are crushing the market right now. Too many people are saying things like they're retiring after this week, or its the best week they've ever had... Yet the people that are saying these things all seem to still be playing, despite having "won".

I predict that we're going to see some ugliness soon. Keeping in mind that analysts have correctly predicted 72 of the last 7 recessions... In the words of Warren Buffett, "Be Fearful When Others Are Greedy and Greedy When Others Are Fearful".

Others are being really greedy right now.

Do you mean the people "still playing" have yet to sell, and are counting their gains only?  Lots of that going on.

Nothing wrong with gambling if you understand what it is. Don't gamble what you can't afford to lose and don't go running to the government demanding they do something about it when you lose. It's a game. Somebody always has to lose.

The thing is that real live casinos have flashing lights, energy, pretty waitresses that bring you drinks, Vegas style shows and endless rows of nickle slots which is all I can afford to lose. Buying stocks online is more like a computer game without the cool graphics the driving and flying simulators have or the sci fi story lines some games have. Boring.
