I generally hate Glocks but I'm looking at one...

What do you want to know? I have one but my Dad has it now because it doesnt work for me . As a backup pistol it is fine though.

It is a skinnier single stack magazine. The bottom of my hand was hanging out in the air, and that drove me nuts as I tended to push my shots down and to the left. So I tried the pinky extension. Now I absolutely hate the pinky extensions for the magazines. I use a tight fore and aft grip and as a result when I tried to use one of those extensions I caused constant jams and failures to feed. To rectify this I had to consciously change my grip every time I drew out the gun or fired it. That is all fine and dandy when you are just going to the range and shooting from benches or static standing positions. But this a huge liability in a gun that I will be using to shoot someone in a high stress situation.

Traditionally I hate the feel of Glocks. I have big hands and they just don't "point right" to me. Wondered if anyone had any rave reviews of what a great pistol it was...

Try a Walther PPS, or a Ruger SR1911, heh.

Had one. Never had any problems with reliability, but never could fire it as accurately as a glock 19 or a 1911, and it wasn't enough smaller than the 19 to make it worthwhile to me to keep for CCW purposes. I figured 15 rounds of 9mm was better than 6 rd of 45, especially when i could place the shots better.

So, my recommendation, find somewhere/someone you can rent/borrow one and try it before buying one. Might work well for you, but might not. FWIW, I've heard from multiple people that the Glock 30 (the double stack compact 45) is one of the "easiest" ones to shoot accurately, but I've never gotten a chance to try one.

I don't have particularly large hands, but I still haven't found a subcompact I get on with.
