I was grabbing some parts for my truck at Dayton LKQ pull-a-part and came across this aw11. Anyone recognize this car? It’s the first GRM sticker I’ve seen in the wild. Kinda sad to see it here.

I hope somebody speaks up because I feel like both blipshift and GRM stickers on the same car are strong hints that it was one of us.

I don’t think LKQ allows you to buy the whole thing once it’s on the lot (?) but there should be a special recognition at the challenge for someone that rescues that one from the kill shelter.

I think it's worth mentioning that the GRM sticker is still in excellent condition.  Colors are bright, no evident fading.  Certainly a quality product. laugh

No, it's a first-gen MR2.

In reply to Turbine :

I just saw where you’re from. I’m sure nocones probably knows who’s it was, but I remember a local autoxer who drove a black MR2. His last name was Suprenant, but I don’t remember his first name right now. This looks like the car he had, minus the red fender.

I’ve tried to buy whole vehicles from other Pull-a-Parts in the past unsuccessfully. I didn’t ask this time, but I should’ve. It looked like it was still mostly complete. Unfortunately the valve cover was gone and the engine looked like it had been open to the elements for a while

Damn, and 4AGE parts are getting rare these days...if I had to pull a valve cover I'd at least rest a splash shield or something over the engine to keep rain & dust out.

I want to be so blessed in life to think that this Toyota has a lot of rust.

Sometimes you can get a sympathetic yard who will allow you to just take all the parts.  It's a big gray area.  If you stop in one day and take the wheels, then the next day get the trunk and engine, they'll sometimes let you buy the shell as body parts.  I did that successfully once with an E30, but I paid a pretty penny to do it, and just had to re-assemble it later.  It also depends on the state.  Some states are not allowed to sell it.  Once it gets a salvage certificate from a recycler, it is no longer a motor vehicle and it can't be sold as a complete unit.  I remember Nevada went through that legislation and the racers and SEMA had a fit.  Not sure if it passed or not.

The other reason they don't necessarily WANT to do it is because the car is worth much more to them as individual pieces than the value of the car.

Our stickers are printed by Decal Shop. Brian Walsh, the owner of the company, has been a regular $2000 Challenge judge. He also races a purple Pinto.
