I pulled my decade+ old Legos out of the basement, sorted all the Technic's into a separate set, and went to work.
Just wondering if anyone else here builds things out of legos anymore.
There are some really excellent builds on youtube. Lots of vacuum engines and whatnot.
Here's a 3 speed transmission with a basic clutch I built last night. I'm going to tear it down later and try to make it more compact, and build a usable clutch.

That's impressive! I haven't played with legos in a while.
I played with the technics sets all the time when I was a kid. Never built anything like that.
I drool over some of the new kits coming out today, but then I see the price.

All of my Lego is in the hands of my nieces and nephews. But I did get this for Janel for Christmas to go along with the new Westfalia. I think it might really be viewed as a present for myself...
I have a ton of legos out in the shed, except for the police ones. Their sitting in my office.
Neat transmission. Looks kind of tough to work. Now I know why my transmission isn't made of legos.

We play with Lego all the time. In fact, I just bought my wife some for Christmas. Don't have a ton of Technics stuff, but some.
FWIW Lego costs about 8 cents per actual piece.
LEGO Porsche 911 turbo cabriolet with functional 7 speed paddle shift transmission with reverse!

Judging by the graphics he uses, I'm guessing he actually works for Lego. Just a suspicion I have. Very neat creation, though.

Warning! Stay away from his website: http://www.sheepo.es/ You may never come out. And according to his site, he's a 25-year-old civil engineering student.
Just uncovered my ancient tub of Legos from my parents house. I'm going to wash them up and get my kid playing with them.
mine now reside with my 7 y/o son... he LOVES them and seems to get a new set from someone every gifting holiday... it's fun to sit and build with him from time to time but even more fun just to watch him build... I hope one day he'll get the privilege of passing his along to his son and giving him a chance to help build in 20 some years...
Like robots. Not the industrial Mind-storms kind. The Japanese fighting robot kind!
Totally bitchin' mecha
Legos are awesome, and are probably some of the reason I like working on cars. The last set I built was the Technics F1 car. There was a thread on that a while back.
I was the poor kid who had one good Lego set and just other misc pieces.
I had a Lego Shell station. I can't tell you how many variations of this I built.
Haha I actually found it on the net!

SBF: that right there is the golden age of lego!
I went to walmart today... a small kit is now $40-50 and all the parts are highly specialized. Boo!
I like my old legos and technics.
Me and Missus are First Lego League (FLL) judges. We just helped run our NJ State Competition two weeks ago.
FLL is part of FIRST Robotics.

holy cow, you guys have really taken this to the next level... My wife just bought me a "Cars 2" movie scene with Guido and Luigi (ages 8-12) and I was proud of myself
I haven't played since about the 70's, wow, things have changed
Really too bad the picture from the paper isn't in the online edition: http://www.thestarphoenix.com/news/todays-paper/Saskatoon+LEGO+Supreme+Court/5907075/story.html

Took my 9yo to legoland sandy eggo last month for his bday, twas a blast, esp the volvo driving experience. He's been playing with my legos and getting new sets since he was a wee lad, really into the lego city sets these days. I was the poor kid who didn't have any sets just bricks and misc pieces, never got any of that technic stuff either, but still loved em growing up. Right now my son has a little village going on downstairs and I'm collecting pieces to make triangles and circles like shown on instructables.
