We figured we would get it working with just NA 4pots first, then once the game as a whole works we will go through and add lots more stuff
(configurations other than I4, turbos, superchargers etc.)

we're fairly proud of this part of things, although we haven't seriously tested and tweaked this part of the game that much yet.
Basically buyers can fall into different classes like "Supercar buyer" - "Hot Hatch Buyer" "Family Sedan Buyer" etc.
Depending on what class the buyer is they will want different things from a car and have different criteria for deciding to buy.
National preferences will fall into play as well, americans will probably always prefer large engines etc.
There is a lot more to it than that, but that is the broad overview of how it works :)
We now have the car body designer working (so far testing it out with a hatch that isn't at all a mk1 golf, honest..)

Looks cool. This might just be taking the whole idea a huge step too far, but competition would be fun. Being able to race your design against others would make for almost endless fun for me.
Racing is a future expansion if we do well!
