this is awesome :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__MArXrjXkg
Note the deliberate use of duct tape. It would've been disappointing if he hadn't.
BTW I want that guy's studio.
for his studio... he's the drummer for david crowder band (christian band)... friend showed me that mowing the lawn bit... pretty awesome :)
All I could think of, is 1) still have to mow all the corners, 2) If he had mowed it the traditional way, he would have been done by now..
that about sums it up Man.... Now when I had a place where I had to cut the grass.. I HATED the handle you had to hold to keep the engine running. I had a loop of ziptie that I could slip into place to hold it "closed" so it would just run.
As for the tape,.. that was not duct tape. He is in a band, so he has access to Gaff tape. Not as strong, but easier to tear and more expensive. You can tell because it was not shiney

Yeah, I mean, if the dude's in a Christian band, you'd think he aught to know a bit more about carpentry.
I like the video Bwak b Creepin that is linked from that one. This guy seems GRM to the core (with a bigger budget). He drives a VW Bus, and takes apart crap to make it do things it's not supposed to do, he also seems to have a Push-mower obsession because in these two videos he seems to have at least 2 different pushmowers. He built a Guitar hero controller that acutally plays music that the band uses on tour, and he built this large percussion wall that another band uses.
I really ticked off my Dad once when I was a kid by mowing the lawn in a big circle. I started in the middle and kept turning left on a larger and larger circle.

I have experimented with this as part of my never-ending quest to make lawn mowing as efficient as possible. The experiment is predicated on the theory that stopping to change direction robs too much time and that maximum efficiency is achieved by keeping the mower moving forward as much as possible. Unfortunately, until the circle reaches a certain diameter, the track of the arc reduces the effective cutting swath - offsetting the gains achieved by uninterupted forward motion.
Now that I've actually typed that out, I realize how ridiculous it is. But hey, mowing gets tedious when you have to do it every four days or so, and turning it into a puzzle helps.
his "yard" was like 20ft by 20ft. it took longer to pound in the stake and do the string than just to mow the damn thing.
I have a seasonal employee that mows lawns during the summer. He showed me one of his trade mags, and there was a gps controlled mower in it. Basically a roomba for your lawn. I guarantee I will have one when I win the lottery.
I hate mowing the lawn, but that is basically because my lawn sucks. I'd still hate to mow it if it were a 20 x 20 perfectly level square, but maybe not as much.
if a roomba hits the family dog, it will scare the family dog. If your roomba mower hits the family dog, or the neighbor's wandering infant, or your mother's prized roses... umm
that idea has lawsuit written all over it.
