Tigard car accident leaves two dead, one in critical condition By Leah Weissman

Washington County CART (Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team) was still investigating the accident with Tigard police Friday morning to pinpoint any other cause(s) leading to the fatal crash.

If the driver survives, he's probably going to wish he hadn't. What a stupid, horrible thing to happen.

Get all your driving done before you start your drinking. Doing it in the other order is bad news.

I went to highschool in Tigard, OR. That is a neighborhood road, not one you would think people would be going all that fast on. I wonder if there was another car involved. Racing?

After trying to drive classic American muscle cars hard around a track in a simulator...it's a miracle more people don't die in them. I mean they really can't turn or stop worth a damn. Anyone inexperienced with them who can't keep their foot off the gas is going to cause a huge accident. How much do you wanna bet this was his dad's car he snuck away with?

seriously, drum brakes, 70 profile tires, panhard rear suspension if you're lucky (leaf sprung if you're not). Oh, and 400 torques.

Fun to cruise in and make noise with, scary to really drive.

But then again, very few cars drive well with a drunken idiot behind the wheel.

OK, this is the second time today that i've seen torque used as a unit. please cut it out. this is the GRM board, and we expect more from the people who post here.

It's an annual summer event here, four or more kids pile into a car, get drunk, someone dies, a 16 year old goes to jail for a few months and too many famiies are changed forever.

This was the headliner in today's paper. These folks are trying to get stiffer penalties for those that supply alcohol to minors.

When my kid started driving I expained that no matter what time of day or night, if you're in a situation you're not comfortable with, drunk driver, too fast whatever, call me. I'll come and get you no questions asked. Fetching a kid at 2a.m. is so much easier than going to a wake.

I wouldn't embarass him, but often as he left I would ask "Got your quarter?"

Personal responsibility, priceless.

I think a lot of kids this age appreciate this approach (my dad and mom both employed the same approach when I was in highschool about 5 years ago). I can't tell you how much better it made me feel to know that my parents trusted me enough to make my own decisions about something like that, and then trust me enough to just come and get me, no matter what time of night/location, no questions asked. That DEFINITELY builds trust for both parties in the relationship.

Though anymore, it is more likely that they can borrow someone's cellphone. That or they have their own.

My dad made a similar deal with me. Luckily, I never had to use it as my friends and I were smart enough to go to someone's house and drink. If we went anywhere, we'd walk and usually only to the local park where we'd play hide and go seek in the dark.

I've used a payphone once or twice.

the cover of this months Top Gear magazine uses Torque as a unit of measure. facetiously saying that an Audi R10 has 1M Torques...but probably not all that far off.
